Couldn't Find TESV.exe?
Hey modders, I have just begun my modding and am following Gopher's tutorial videos. I know they are old but I am still finding my way except for this part. I am at the point of installing SKSE and I got it working. Then I move to Down SKYUI and it says I had an old version of the SKSE I go back and find the newest version and download it the same way as I did the old version that the video told me. I launch the SKSE loader and a console pops up with along with an error message saying "Couldn't find TESV.exe. I could have accidentally deleted it by accident getting the old SKSE files out of my game folder or something? Anyone one know a fix?

Both are sse versions correct? Oldrim ones will not work.

Tesv.exe is oldrim.

Skyrimse.exe is special edition.

Make sure you are dowloading SKSE64 from http://skse.silverlock.org/ only

There are 3 versions there. Old Skyrim, SSE, and VR. You want Current SE build 2.0.12 (runtime 1.5.62): 7z archive

Cheers, so the SKYUI mod won't work with the newest Skryim SKSE for Skyrim spec. Ed.?

it does, make sure when you have SKSE completely installed that you launch skyrim from a file called "skse_loader.exe" and not the regular launcher. if you launch skyrim from the regular launcher it will not load in the extended scripts.

the launcher can be found in the skse64 folder, or the program files for skyrim after skse is installed.

I had the same problem but realized when I downloaded the newest version of SKSE, it kept the old SKSE installer.exe and added the new one. I was inadverently clicking on the old one (I finally looked at the modification date). I deleted all of the old files, clicked on the new modification dated skse64_loader.exe and it worked fine. I went into NMM and clicked on my SKSE icon in the upper left corner and it also worked fine.

Hey cad,

Couple of things, first as others have said the SSE exe is SkyrimSE.exe not TESV.exe

2nd, yes Gopher has some older videos out there as he's been doing this for a long time (and rather well I might add). Last year he updated his Script Extender video due to Vortex now being able to install it in it's entirety which was not possible with any mod manager before.

But the video is for Fallout 4, Fallout New Vegas, Skyrim, Skyrim SE etc.
You need to start watching at the 4:05 mark of the video
https://youtu.be/0prWgeGGnp8?t=247
careful tho because he shows what happens if you try to install the wrong version at that point in the video. So just pay close attention as he show how to install it correctly both manually and with Vortex.

EDIT: OOPS, just noticed how old this thread is. Oh well, maybe it will help catboy.
