Can someone explain wassail from Sacrosanct to me?
If you are below 25% heath, you're probably already dead, so what exactly is the point of wassail (added in by the mod Sacrosanct)?

If you don't know, wassail is when you get below 25% health in combat when thirsty (as a vampire...), your Magicka, Health, and Stamina get slowly drained (and if you somehow manage to survive that, you also get 10 points taken off all of those until you feed).

I've never used the mod, but I can read...

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/3928

Vampires also receive the following abilities depending on thirst. As you become thirstier, you lose beneficial abilities and gain detrimental abilities instead, representing Molag Bal's growing influence over you.

Fortitude: Vampiric blood makes you hard to kill. Upon taking fatal damage, you come back to life, becoming thirstier.
...when Thirsty, turns into...
Wassail: The Beast awakens below 25% Health in combat, draining Health, Magicka and Stamina during combat and reducing them by 10 points until you feed.

It is a detrimental effect. Getting thirsty in Sacrosanct is a bad thing. Or at least intended to make you feel like there's a significant effect. It's a trade off with:

Vampires also receive the following powers depending on thirst. As you become thirstier, your power set gradually shifts from vampiric charm to vampiric might as the Beast makes its presence known.

Blood Cauldron: At will - Expend some of your Vampiric blood to replenish Health, Magicka and Stamina, becoming thirstier.
...when Thirsty, turns into...
Blood Revel: At will - In combat, gain 25% bonus attack damage and spell effectiveness for 120 seconds or until combat ends, but activate Wassail.

In summary: Thirst reduces your endurance and has other negative physical effects, but thirst also changes your magical abilities into [arguably] more powerful ones.

I learned all that just by reading. How fun.

I know what it does literally, but I just don't understand the point of it. It only activates under 25% health, which means you are likely dead even without it activating, but with it activated you are now definitely dead (which means you reload, which means wassail never took effect anyways). Therefore there is basically no point to the wassail.

As for the other negative effects, i'm already aware of them, and they actually do make sense.

The point is, it's a trade off. It's so Vampires don't just have big bonuses. That right there is plenty of a point to it. It also makes you want to end combat ASAP and get the kill instead of running around spamming a heal while getting peppered with arrows, for example. It's not hard to think of game play and role play reasons for it to be in the game.

And I dunno what Skyrim you play, but being at 25% health doesn't mean I'm "likely dead"; it means I still have 25% health, all of my pots, and whatever magicka I have left too.
