whenever i leave the game going and don't do anything for a while, the display goes black like it was set to sleeping mode.
no matter what i do, i can't get back to the game.
when this happens, the only thing i can do is turn off the computer manually by pushing the power button...
I removed the software and problem went away, pretty crappy software. It was trying to change Skyrims settings causing a conflict.
Removing GeForce Experience software has no effect on the drivers so your good to go there. Once you have removed GeForce Experience software you have to do a Steam validate to correct the errors GeForce Experience software caused to the ini file settings.
Hmm, would this be something that could cause issues for other games I've used to optimize for better performance with? As long as it won't cause any major issues I'm fine with removing it.
having it installed is enove to let some games go haywire, when you activly let loose that programm on a game purposly you already lost. it will use way badder grafic option than what are possible, and this worse options will work wonky mosttimes.
example: a friend made the mistake and installed it, than let it choose the grafic options for XCOM EW. result: the game was forced to a 1440 x ? resolution with medium textures and ever crashed at the end video with a grafic ram warning. i deinstalled experiance at his PC an the game run flawless in Full HD with all textures at max and no more ram warning crashes.
another matter for the black screen: got this black screen problem long ago at my Traveling Notebook (A Pavillion too, but way older than yours) . its not stated but i guess its no real Full GTX but a M grafic Card with Shared Memory in you system? a Pavillion with a dedicated Full Fledged Grafic Card woud be a Miracle to me. i coud solve it at some games (not all but FO4 was one of the games where it worked as example) by running them in boarderless window mode instead of fullscreen.
Well it doesn't run those games only changes settings, and not very well at that. It uses a database of information to make any setting changes, it doesn't care what your machine can do it just picks what it thinks it can do.
That is a false sense of security it is palming off on you.
BUT remember I'm not tech, so this is just my take on the program. what I do know is I got rid of the program and all is good for me.
GRAAAHHH
I uninstalled Geforce thingy, and it worked perfectly fine yesterday morning for several hours.
I download the mudcrab creation club thingy today, load my game, and the game has the display issue pop up almost instantly.
*I only mention the mudcrab because that's the only thing different I did today when I started it up.
1. What mods are you running, just CC Beth mods or others?
2. Did removing Gforce matter to the other games good or bad?
Doesn't matter if it was allowed before double check that it still is, please.
Haven't tried Fallout 4 yet but will be trying that tomorrow.
The game worked fine just a few minutes ago, so I really don't get why it had the issue, but I will check the firewall/antivirus.
I have tried and checked out fallout 4, and so far it doesn't quite have the same issue. Or at least I was able to play it for a bit before an issue like it popped up but then the game seemed to recover and I was able to get back into viewing my game. But this bug/issue/glitch is not purely for skyrim it is now also for fallout 4.
Which isn't too surprising, because when I first got this computer and installed fallout 4, fallout 4 have the exact same issue on relatively frequent basis at least at the time the only way I was able to fix it was using the Nvidia GeForce experience but going off your advice and the advice of a computer friend at work I have uninstalled that.
So is there anyone who can suggest what this might be problem wise? Is it something to do with my computer hardware above in my OP, or is it something to do with the game itself that I can't do anything about?
I would say either your ram has an issue or your video card.
What you seam to be saying, is when you put a load on machine it is failing.
Is the machine overheating?
Try reseating the ram and run test on it.
If your video card can be removed try reseating it.
Reseating = remove and reinsert
I can't reseat ram or video card, at least not easily. It's a Laptop.
At this point I would either try to return game to original state or reinstall.
