Looking for very Immersive HUD replacer
I’ve been trying to find a mod that replaces the HUD elements with immersive effects or items like an actual compass or telescope/magic lense that reveals objective markers. Damage effects or screen blur for when you are low on mana, heavy breathing when low on stamina etc. I want to basically be able to completely turn my hud off but get the same information, anyone know anything? Preferably one that doesn’t require script extender since it’s not updated/usable right now?

not quite what I am looking for, I have seen the compass, though it looks about as janky as a poor reload animation for a fallout 4 custom weapon mod. the Hud mods maybe but unlikely, the MoreHUD mods I am definitely adding for convenience.

More specifically I am trying to find something or get something made that makes questing/exploration more immersive or interesting. Something like the compass from pirates of the Caribbean that reveals to you what you want most. making things interesting maybe a held lantern that glows brighter if you are facing the direction of your objective.

My goal with this is total immersion. I recently started playing without even looking at the map, no fast traveling, nothing, I barely even recognized the main quest. I would take on a quest almost at random, and start walking. sometimes I would come across a graveyard or a landmark that would peak my interest leading to an hour long dungeon crawl. maybe eventually reaching the end of the quest I was originally on.

This is the experience I am looking to improve upon, one where I don't need to use the more meta systems of the game. There is a spell in the game that shows your the path to where your current quest but I would like to cut out everything, add alternatives, and make the game more interesting in general.

This mod is a very simple/small addition that can make the game more feasible without looking at the map. I am generally trying to think more or less outside the box with this to immerse myself and hopefully others who seek the same immersion as I.

Well, try installing Even Better Quest Objectives which allows you to travel without relying on quest markers too much: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/159

There's Relationship Dialogue Overhaul which adds more dialogue for companions: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1187

Check the immersion mod catagory for more mods.

There are also difficulty mods like Frostfall and iNeed.

There are also mods which allow your character to speak like PC Head Tracking and Voice Pack

Most of the quest mods in Skyrim are kill quests with little story. So search The Quests and Adventures section for more quests. If you want romance for example, download Skyrim Romance (Requires convertion) or Amorous Adventures.

This mod is super immersive too, if you have Oldrim: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/5626/

again thank you, but unfortunately the better quest objectives mod requires the unofficial patch which fixes a few. . . necessary features. . . (awkwardly glances at alchemy loop).
the dialogue overhaul is definitely going in, now Lydia will finally appreciate my presence.
I'll use Ineed to add a survival element but I'm not looking to make every session into a desperate attempt to survive the weather (I wanna play for a while but I want to at least be able to complete quests within a reasonable amount of time rather than spending every session making minimal progress because I need to eat 15 rabbits a day and spend the rest of the session trying to find a source of water rather than actually playing the game).

I do have a question though, what is the difference between mods for Oldrim and mods for SSE? I've been installing "Skyrim" mods on SSE for a few days now and they mostly seem to work just fine asside from the expected incompatibilities with other mods.

and as for the romance ones, I would rather my companions not all be converted into Siri.

Skyrim Special Edition is 64-bit while Oldrim is 32 bit. Most Oldrim mods won't work with Special Edition unless you convert them first. Also Skyrim Special Edition uses the same engine as Fallout 4, which have some limitations for ENB visuals, which is why Oldrim has better looking ENBs.

As for the Alchemy Loop, if you want to use exploits in the game or alter the game to your liking, just install Cheat Room or Skytweak.

technically. . . it's not cheating if it's part of the base game. . .
(Cheat mods take away the fun of abusing a broken system by just breaking the system yourself)

plus generally if I start cheating. . . I don't stop. So I am trying to avoid cheat mods.

Console commands are part of the base game. You saying that doesn't count as cheating either? So you want to deal with literally over 1000 bugs in the game just to use one exploit? It's not worth it, man. I remember when I played Skyrim way back in 2015 on the PS3 without the patch. It was terrible....
