SKSE couldn't find Skyrimse.exe
I did it right once and then had to delete and make room for Fallout now anytime I install 2.0.7 and try to launch from the loader it says "couldn't find Skyrimse.exe"

This is where my folders are from the 7zip I'm kinda new to modding as well so thanks in advance.

Are you using the 64bit version of skse? Because if you are using the old skyrim version it won't work.

I apologise if I'm asking something blatantly obvious, but quite often that's where to start.

skse need to be in the folder where the skyrim exe is, you copied the skse app to the wrong folder

doesnt matter the slightest if its skyrim or Skyrim SE. the skse exe needs to be in the same folder than the skyrim exe. if not skse cant find the skyrim app to hook into

@Grumpy worked like a charm thank you for bearing with my idiocy. I assume this is also why I would get SKYUI Error Code 1?

dont know what the error code 1 of SKYUI stands for, but skyUI needs skse. sometimes it can help to start skse as admin. dunno if thats one of such cases, just try it :D

Remember to run the game through the normal launcher once before using SKSE if you haven't done so on this game install.

Yeah same thing too i have yet to see anyone that can help on this and i don't think anyone will. My skse won't launch on nexus and won't launch on steam now making it unplayable. I downloaded and tried both scipt extenders for AE and SE and none work both saying I need to get the AE version of the script extender when i dont even own AE. I wish we can all get help on this because i just want to play the game here. If anyone reads this and can help i will gladly appreciate it.

If anyone stumbles on this like I did and get this far, I may have found something:

I also had this issue where SKSE *originally* in the same folder as my install location. And yet, SKSE could not find skyrimse.exe.

Important to note: I had loaded, as many videos pointed to do, all of my SKSE files, archived, in my mod manager instead of manually installing it.

Basically I had a bunch of mods on Vortex Nexus - my mod manager - and while trying to fix issues that were driving me to my wits' end, I went Full Genius Mode:
"Okay. I'll just Disable *every* mod and then turn them back on one at a time. That'll work.*

And it worked too well.

Basically, when I disabled "SKSE_00_02_DATA.rar" - which is what I called my SKSE archived mod as described above, it removed it from the folder.
Then, the issue happened. Because of course that instance of SKSE had disappeared. But I didn't even know it was SKSE that was the problem yet.
When I eventually reEnabled it, it did reinstall it, but it did so in my vortex mods folder, which is in a different location, as I've set it up myself.

Once I discovered that, I just found that folder (right-clicked the mod > "Open in File Manager"), realized my mistake, took those files and copied them in the correct location, redid my shortcut, voila. Game works.

Mental note, not disabling Script Extender ever again lol

TL;DR:
-Disabled my self-made archived SKSE that I dragged and dropped in the mod manager.
-This deleted the files from the exe location, when I re-enabled it it wasn't in the same place by design and wasn't the same instance.
-Put files back manually and redid shortcut, game works again no problem.

I had the same problem and found my solution: I played the other normally, but the next day "couldn't find skyrimSE.exe". I tried to verify files via steam and got message that there is an error in saving files on my hard drive. I reinstalled the game and got the same error. After rebooting my computer and steam, and reinstalling the game - it worked. so if anyone ever stumbles on this problem, try doing that.
