Dragon rend doesnt work on Alduin

I just read the elder scroll, learned dragon rend and now im fighting Alduin. Well hes fighting me because hes just circling around me and even though i hit him straight literally everywhere (tried to find the hitbox) from a meter away it simply doesnt work and he seems to be immune to arrows. Restarting and reloading didnt work, only way i can help myself right now is to use a command to finish the quest, but i dont really want to cheat my way out of there, especially because i have to fight him again later and dont know if that bug just happens again.

Load an earlier save, I know you said you've done that already, but try an earlier save still.
Because it sounds like the save has the invulnerable Alduin bug, which can only be sorted by loading an earlier save or using a console command.

Ill try that. The scene of ancient Nords fighting Alduin was bugged as well, i dont think 6 dragons are supposed to be there, of which 4 are still alive and one constantly uses his fire breath so you dont understand anything of what the people or Alduin are saying

Well, they do fight dragons, and I think one uses a breath attack, but 6 is a bit much, I think there should only be 2 or 3 dragons before alduin, and you should be able to hear the three heroes talk, not particularly riveting speech, but you should hear them.

If it ends up in an unbeatable Alduin again, you might want to post your load order (assuming you are using mods of course)

During the elder scroll sequence, theres still one dragon too much who is ignored by everyone and keeps making noise, i killed him using a console order so i could at least understand what everyone is saying. During the conversation, three more random dragons spawn and just sit around and look at everyone and Alduin is still invincible


I have quiet a lot of mods (over 200), how can i copy my load order though?

If you go to Ilja's pinned thread (Skyrim SE:player guides and resources) you will find a link for LOOT, plus instructions on using it to sort your load order, LOOT also has a three dot symbol that allows you to copy your load order and paste it here.

Someone else recommended to go away, fast travel somewhere else, then reenter high hrothgar and fight alduin again, tried that, doesnt work

I deleted some mods that caused errors/werent working or outdated, also a dragon related mod that forces every dragon to land immedietly, but i still have the problem.

I also tried to simply force the quest to end by entering the console order setprogress, i then get the task to talk to paarthurnax or arngeir but alduin is still up there and fights, while paarthurnax is also flying around. "Disable" simply removes alduin, but paarthurnax still acts as in combat, even dragon rend on him doesnt work (hes glowing blue, so its at least trying to work on him. While alduin is immune to it). Also i dont know if alduin will correctly appear in future quests if i simply disable him from the skies of skyrim.

Since i cant force alduin to land with a shout or a mod, i cant use "kill" either as a dragon only dies to "kill" if he lands on ground and alduin is scripted not to land, except if you force him to do so.

Im level 50 and i really like this playthrough, its the one where i did the most and achieved the most so far, so i dont really want to loose all my progress now by restarting or loading a save where i was level 20 either

Ok, I'm guessing nobody has mentioned that Mods bake data into saves, and that if you remove or deactivate Mods you have to either load a save from before you installed them, or start a new game.

Some people will tell you all sorts of convoluted methods of cleaning out saves so they will work again, or recommend various save cleaners, these are sticking plasters and will only delay the inevitable crashes (timescale is up for debate, but not the consequences)

If you see a thread by smr called "You can not remove mods midplaythrough" I would read it, it tells you in more detail why you can't remove mods like that without starting a new game.

i didnt remove mods before. Only this one just now, game still works, i had the problem before. And some mods that didnt work before either, i was too lazy to remove them earlier
