How to fix audio in-game?
So this happened about a week ago and already I'm losing it with the little options I have left. After a while, I noticed that equipping weapons, swinging them, riding a horse and music has gone silent. At first, I thought it was some sort of audio option, but it turns out that the remaining audio, f. e. dialogue, is fine. So far I've gone to the point of completely uninstalling skyrim (including all folders and mods) and reinstalling it. It did nothing. What can I do to fix this?

I used to use the backpack mod on Creation Club, however that's no longer installed.
Ok, doubt that would have caused this, especially if it was your only mod.

Have you checked your sound drivers are up to date?

Also I know various windows updates have caused issues with skyrim se, so it could be that, not sure how you would fix it if it is a windows update...

Um, I think I did? how would I check if the sound drivers are up to date?

Er... actually that's a good question, my antivirus handles a lot of my updates, and just had a look to see if I could find it myself, and I can't...

Will continue to look though

So just now I looked online how to do it, it seems like it's up to date. I also experimented more to increase the missing sounds, maybe that helps.
- Shouts
- Those screams while swinging weapons
- Weapon sheathing
- Killing blows (the decapitations, backstabs, that sort of thing)
- Environmental objects (wooden bridges lowering, stones falling)

idk if this helps, it just makes it more precise.

ok, open your start menu
type in Device manager
slect audio inputs and outputs
double click on your speakers
select the driver tab

Then you can check the driver details, or even select update driver (you can also rollback the driver if it doesn't work with a newer version)

Alright, it confirms that it's the newest version. Skyrim seems to still not work properly with its audio. As of now, I'm following a guide that explains how to reset the skyrim.ini file (which could fix it, maybe?). I'm just trying anything at this point, screw this level 60 character.

Hope it works, but at least you can fairly safely say it isn't the sound driver... not much I know, but sometimes all you can do is eliminate stuff.

Yeah, the guide still didn't fix it. Heck, it didn't even reinstall it, I still got the normal characters. And the sounds are still missing. I don't understand how this is a thing, while every other sound works just fine. I'll leave this game on rest for a while until I find something else. Thanks for your help.

So I see windows update mentioned so I would "assume" you are on windows but let me ask anyway, are you on a mac? The reason I ask is this has been a known problem for mac unless skyrim is installed on an external drive.

also, just curious, do you have the Unofficial Patch installed?

No, I wasn't aware there's an unofficial patch. I'll look into it. Also, I'm on windows.
And it's on an external drive either way.

Ok it's the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch (USSEP). Not sure it will help, just a thought.
And I meant are you on Mac as oppossed to pc.

Sorry even though it's 1pm here I just woke up from a long nap and am a bit out of it lol.

Do you have an old skse installed? I had this bug once and turned out I had left loose old skse files left. After getting rid of them the sound fixed itself.
Test other games to see if they exhibit strange audio issues.

Some possible issues include:

Dead Audio Channels - This is usually a hardware issue and requires replacement of your audio device(s)

Spatial Sound incompatibility - If you're using a Spacial Sound option like Windows Sonic, turn it off (Or turn it on if it's off, sometimes audio devices work better with it on)

Try Raynezazki's SKSE fix first too. As he seems to have had this bug already.
