Moon and Star modifies the infamous lakeview manor file. How do I fix it?
I just ran the latest version of loot, after I was getting crashes every few seconds upon waking up at an inn. There's a VERY infamous file associated with Lakeview Manor, added by the Hearthfire dlc (I believe its a mesh file that isn't actually used). If you have a mod that modifies that file in anyway, your game will crash when the cell that contains Lakeview Manor resets. Moon and star is apparently one of those.

However, loot is telling me there's a way to fix this, though its not giving me clear instructions. It's just showing the following:

This plugin contains wild edits. A manual SSEEdit cleaning guide is available here:

Description of Wild Edit
Moon & Star reverts a change made by HearthFires DLC to Breezehome Nav Mesh.
This can cause your game to (CTD) crash to desktop.
Modify the following with xEdit
Forward Changes made by HearthFires.esm in Record 000166A9 to MoonAndStar_MAS.esp

Navigation Mesh & Teleport Triangle

I don't get what its telling me to do. Of course, I could just uinstall the mod since I've already done the quest once, but I would have to remove a bunch of compatiblity patches if I did do that, so it would be somewhat inconvenient.

Is it true that you can use sseedit to fix this infamous bug? If so, how do you do it? And yes, I've used sseedit before, though I've only ever used it to clean the masterfiles. And note I've never done a manual cleaning before, I've only done the thing outlined in gopher's videos. I don't even know what this thing means by 'foward changes'. I don't see any option in seedit to 'forward' anything.

You seem confused, the navmesh edit for Breezehome does not effect Lakeview just Breezehome

Are you crashing when you enter Breezehome or Lakeview?

No, I'm crashing every few seconds after waking up in the morning.

Its a ctd that's triggered when the cell that contains that mesh resets. Modders have made a note of NOT messing with that file since this glitch was discovered.

As for what happened before the crashes, I walked from solitude to rorikstead. It was late at night and I have survival mods installed, so I slept at the inn. Upon waking up and continuing my journey though, I started crashing every few seconds. That's an infamous sign of this gltich btw.

And no, I'm nowhere near Breezehom or Lakeview. Actually, I'm near Valtheim Towers right now.

Anyway, Loot is telling me to make a fix and I don't know how to do it. I would love a solution so I don't have to go and edit my entire load order.

Put Frostfall before Moon and Star in your load order and load a save from before you started crashing

Frostfall is already above moon and star. I had frostfall installed long before moon and star.

Are you people going to help me or not here? Or are you another one of those communities that deny well-known bugs that cause issues.

could you post your load order then?

Plus since you seem to think the order you install things means that is your load order I have more questions

1) where are you getting your mods?

Mostly the nexus. And yes, I have the nexus mod manager, so I can see exactly the order everything is in. I also have a few mods from the bethesda site (because not everything is avaible on the nexus).

And how exactly am I supposed to post a load order when I have dozens of mods installed? I don't seem to have an option to copy-paste the list anywhere.

And why would that matter anyway? I've certainly never heard of any compability issues between the two mods. And you outright refuse to acknowledge the most infamous glitch in all of skyrim history, so that's not exactly making me trust you.

Also, I've already suffered from this glitch in the past. When I started crashing repeatedly every few seconds I of course immedietly realized it looked alot like that infamous glitch, though I didn't assume it was the problem until I updated loot and it told me moon and star was the cause. I wasn't aware I had any mods that caused this glitch before that.

And no, I haven't purchased breezehome or lakeview manor.

You can copy it from loot

I did not ever suggest it was not an issue in oldrim

if you think the navmesh edit is your problem just delete it from the moon and star esp file

it is my understanding it is not used by the mod

I guess my thought is that is not your problem

its a copy paste job from hearthfires.esm into moonstar
tulle040657 Nov 11, 2018 @ 5:57am
here

1. Start SSEEdit by enabling HearthFires.esm and MoonAndStar_MAS.esp
2. Type 000166A9 to FormID at top left
3. Scroll down. At XNDP - Navigation Mesh & Teleport Triangle rows, you see MoonAndStar_MAS.esp is reverting the changes made by HearthFires
4. For both rows, CTL-C to copy the HearthFires row value, and update MoonAndStar_MAS row value by edit and CTL-V to paste
5. Exit to save

tuloogle is here to help

I decided to just uninstall the mod. I've already done the quest, and looking the compability patches I'm not exactly missing anything. Besides, I was having a compability issue with another mod anyway, which had no patch. Now I need to find a save from before the crashes...
tulle040657 Nov 11, 2018 @ 6:07am
er from the post in the mod page

"Haven't scrolled through all of the comments, so I'll post this here: idk if it's just me or if anyone else has had this issue, but when I tried to deselect / uninstall this mod, it would corrupt my save file. Not that it's really a huge issue for me to remove it, as I have enjoyed it thus far, but be wary. If there is a fix or a known how-to for uninstallation, please comment below. Otherwise, great mod!"

I had to uninstall a bunch of other mods due to compability issues that I wasn't aware of before anyway. Besides, that playthrough was unplayable with the relentless crashes. I couldn't play it either way.

As to uninstalling mods mid-playthrough, just so you are aware, you will need to go back to a save made before the removed mod or mods were installed. You CANNOT continue on a save which had the mod installed. For complete information, see:

Because we get so many people who do not know this.

If you aren't using loot and deleting mods midplaythrough, you've got bigger issues then this glitch that if it were what you think would affect alot more people than you.
