Dark Face Bug
I am having an issue with vampires having a dark face. I have read all the posts and found that most are outdated. I have tried the mod "Dark Face Fix" and have tried GECK Ctrl F4 and tried deleting the .esm file from the facegen folders (all that did was give more random npc's the problem). Using setnpcweight does work but its useless on vampires because they are trying to kill you

Check out my 2nt post on page 2. The causes for your problems and DEADs problems are completely different. VHR is Vanilla Hair Replacer, but its not causing your issues.

Yeah I have already tried deleting the .esm files in facegendata but that just caused the same problem with any npc so I'm leaving that one alone :steamhappy:

OK so it looks like I'll have to find a user manual for xEdit then use it to find out what is causing this issue............yay :steamfacepalm:

both pandorable and bijin is placed under VHR and other npc overhaul mods, both mod and eps.
I installed VHR and am already running everything Pandorable and Bijin, all of them work flawlessly for me (except I did note 1 vampire cattle with a problem. VHR has a patch for 3 npcs in Pandorables Dawnguard, it was probably one of those 3 NPCs as I did not test with that patch).

Are you absolutely sure you don't have unmanaged facegen files in your data folder? Except for some freak combination of mods causing a problem with SSEs finicky facegen its the only explanation I can think of for your problems.

Outside of that your only last ditch efforts to fix this problem would be to redownload and reinstall Pandorable/Bijin/VHR, to completely purge SSE (including manually deleting the data folder) and start over, or to try abandoning Pandorable/Bijin or VHR.

when i click on an npc while in console command then it says that last reference was changed by skyrim.esm. i have cheched my data folder and there is no facegen files there since i have deleted them before. would there be some files in appdata folder?

ps: i use diversity a character overhaul as main npc overhaul, all the faces are brown but they have their hair when i use VHR, even with the correct patch
rogere1164 13 MAR 2020 a las 16:00
Um I don't use Pandorable and the only Bijin is warmaidens (and I had this issue long before using this) and I don't use VHR and this play through was a complete reinstall of skyrim including deleting the main game folder and uninstalling all the mods from Vortex.

Refs are rarely changed by anything other then the mod that they are from. The ref ID just controls the spawn location of the NPC/item for the most part. The base ID should be registering as last edited by Pandorable, Bijin or a patch, its the base ID that needs to match the facegen data.

Are you testing with VHR, Pandorable and Bijin active?

Anything I post in response to DEAD RaNgEr 888 is more or less just for them. You two have the same symptoms but different causes. I apologize for any confusion I have caused you and for using your thread so casually.

In your case I would disable all of your mods in Vortex. I'm not talking about disabling esps, disable the mods in Vortex and deploy to completely remove the esps, meshes, textures, etc in the data folder. After that launch the game and see if the issue persists without any mods.

If you have no issues then reintroduce 5-10 mods at a time, launch SSE and see if your issue is back. If not introduce 5-10 more and test again.

Once you have an issue again you will have narrowed down the mods causing your issue.

yes. i have also tried to test my main npc overhaul mod on a test profile with bijin and pandorable disabled. didnt work there too. atleast the npcs had hair.

Let me read up on xEdit and learn how to use it so I can check for conflicts :steamhappy:

I'm at a loss. You seem to be doing everything correctly, even before my advice. Does completely removing VHR and its patches fix your NPCs?
Uncle64 13 MAR 2020 a las 17:51
@rogere1164 how do it go for you.

If I was you, I should tell Vortex to turn off all your mods.
And manually delete your Data folder in steam. Let steam download it again.
Clean your masters.
Start over.

I think you can export your modlist in Vortex and remake it.

And when you install your mods again. Make sure that you install them in the order they must be installed.

I also did find this page on Nexus for you.

I have already done this and interesting thing is according to xEdit KS Hair does not conflict with anything (although I did drop it down the load order). Unfortunately it's the main DLC's that conflict but I'm not going to try a make a patch (because if I could we wouldn't be having this discussion :steamhappy:)

And thank you for giving me a better understanding of xEdit

Good news. The mod Immersive College of Winterhold has a Black Face Patching guide that has some very good information in it :steamhappy:
