SSE uses form 44, which you can check via Creation Kit, most mods are quite easy to port over to SSE, Oldrim uses form 43 which is incompatible with SSE.
There are plenty of guides on these forums on how to mod, so not gonna delve into it.
Use Vortex and Loot and read every mod description carefully, many mods are dependent on other mods to function properly, and test a batch before getting more, do not uninstall mods mid playthrough, start a new game or a clean save.
Yeah, the 11\11\11 game so I was right about that, but the difference was the MODS, not the actual game. That was bugging me, and didn't understand that.
So SSE was really a re-mix of the game because Bethesda wanted "Creation Club" for all their games and they had to make another Skyrim?
And it was trying to use Vortex to install SkyUi mod where I screwed up and saved the mod's files in the game's folder with the SkyrimLauncher.exe and it deleted everything :).
I was used to Nexus Mod Manager, and Vortex had a different interface and I didn't really know how to do anything with it and screwed up.
So I suppose that SSE is the very reason we have Vortex now. Because Bethesda had to make a whole new game (that's not really a NEW game) and Nexus Mod Manager couldn't support it anymore?
Trying to get SKSE64 working so I could get SkyUI, so I could get a mod that allows me much more control over the follower npcs, so I could get them to immediately move into my sites when playing a ranged type. Archery rogue-ish thing. If I give them a bow, I want them to stand back and use it, not run in front of my bow to fight something.
Well, damn, I just mentioned like 4 different things in the post. Thanks for answering my questions, and I understand at least THAT part now.
Nobody else has to anser, sorry if you just read it.
Hehe it is cool.
Vortex is different from NMM, but there is a community version of NMM although cannot personally recommend it, but might be better for you as you are used to it. Vortex afaik was made by the same people who done NMM, so became standard mod installer for Nexus, you could try MO2, Mod Organiser 2, which is arguably better, and it is in some ways, but that is for more advanced modders, no offence meant.
Vortex and MO2 both run profiles so you can swap profiles with vanilla, and modded and test with no issues, also with Vortex, it has dependencies, sort that for each mod if required, and then run deploy, then run Loot, standalone, although Vortex has inbuilt, but tbh, never really trusted it but that is just personal preference.
In regards to SKSE64, there are guides on here for doing it, and sorry on limited time, or else I would go through the easier and more advanced ways of installing it.
You can run multiple mod loadouts that way, and you determine which mods go where.
Of course you'll also want to keep separate Plugins.txt files for each setup, but that's easy to do manually as well.
I've got 3 right now: one that's straight vanilla, one that has just a few mods and AFT, and the one I use the most, which has a bunch of mods and UFO (which works fine in SE). If you want to test new mod loadouts, duplicate your Clean Data folder and load it up with mods. Additionally, you eliminate the possibility of any problems being caused by your mod manager.
Of course you do have to sort them yourself, but you should know how to do that anyway.
