Moss mother cavern glitch
Hey guys, been having this weird glitch when I enter moss mother cavern. So I skip valdr and dont heal him bc I dont have anything and go inside. when I get inside, everything is submerged underwater and my game's FPS drops to like 10 and I start moving frame by frame. I went out and tested various other locations and caves around Skyrim and they work just fine, I do run mods but ive only had a problem this one time in this one cave, I also went through and tested to see if any of my mods were causing this and no dice it still happens. Has anyone else experienced this in Moss mother cavern?

It's not necessarily game breaking and I can continue onward, but I would like to know what is causing it (loose file in the skyrimprefs.ini?) and how to fix it, any help would be appreciated.

Do you run an ENB or use any water mods?

I believe the only one I use for those are vivid weathers and nordic snow, no water mods and no ENB.

I disabled them both as well to test it and it still happens, I basically disabled every weather mod, etc. to test it. Ive also went to other caves and they are just fine.

How about trying to get a healing potion and give it to the hunter.

Ive also done that, when hes healed he goes "you lead on" and then I go in and proceed to lag like ♥♥♥♥ lmao

Sounds like one of your mods that do someting to that cave.
Checked whit xEdit to se if you have one conflict on the cave?

might try disabling one at a time. Weird because I dont have many mods on.

posting you LO would be a start. also i second what uncle said, you can check stuff like that in xEdit pretty easy. load up all your mods search for the location in EditorID (MossMotherCavernWorld) and you'll see which mods affect that area.

I have the exact issue! It has to be a mod I installed between my first playthrough (where I remember entering the cave with no problems) and my second one. If I try to turn off all my mods I can't play the game, it says the save is corrupt (makes sense considering how many I have). I haven't figured out what to do either.

I disabled all my weather and water related mods including some extras like Cutting Room Floor and Open Cities. I tried Uncle64's suggestion, but I don't really understand how it works because it listed a bunch of mods (almost all) including some that are about hair and body.

Hmmm, Miss Witch and anyone else having this issue, it was a mod. For me it was "interesting NPCS" not being updated and messing with the load order. However, if you dont have that mod and it still persists, you can use the command "killall" in the cave to stop the lag and get your bearings, it will fix the lag, but you will be submerged.

When I uninstalled the mod it fixed it for me, realized I needed to update it and one of the spriggans in the cave was causing the lag.

Omg!!!! I know the killall trick, but the reason I'm so desperate is because Rumarin from Interesting NPCs has a quest in that cave. I can believe that's exactly the mod that's messing it up. I'll update it ASAP. Thanks a lot! I hope it works <3

A big thanks to Uncle64 and Rudiger for helping out on this post. I hope others can fix it if it occurs again

IT WORKED!!!

I owe you huuuuuuge thanks!!!!! It not only fixed that cave, but the missing chunks of water that happened in some places. I can't believe a mod for NPCs did all that... Mods can be odd. Just today I installed a mod for better looking nut treats and it made my game freeze for a moment when I ran for more than 10 seconds. Uninstalled it and my game is great again. Bugs and glitches come from where you least expect them.

Seriously, though, I thank you from the bottom of my heart! Cheers and health to you!!!
