Mods for oldrim that you miss for SE.
Many, many mods have never been ported over, obviously. Of course, a lot of them aren't exactly high-quality, or really do much of anything. Others, have just never made it over for some reason. Some mod authors just aren't around to give permission to port their mods, and some outright refuse to let their mods be ported (interesting npcs is a good example of this). I actually spent quite some time trying to find an enb called 'caffeine enb', only to recently have it hit me that it was exclusive to oldrim. And lo and behold, it was, and the mod author apparently refuses to allow it to be ported over.

Beyond issues with permission, some mods just aren't working for SE. Asis, for instance, still isn't working quite right. I know the monster mod and immersive creatures had an issue with the game NOT distributing the monsters throughout the leveled lists (causing players to run into end-game boss monsters while walking the roads at level 1!) I have no idea if they've fixed these issues yet or not.

And then there's of course physics mods. In oldrim, this mainly meant things like capes, jewelry, making it so the weapons you were carrying actually jostled around, you get the idea. In SE, it seems everyone thinks only the body physics mods are worth porting for some reason.

I also discovered another mod while I was trying to find out where all the armors in immersive armors came from, only to find some originated in an oldrim mod called 'morrowind armor' or something, which has never been ported to SE. You look through a lot of oldrim mods, its pretty common actually to find people begging for a port in the comments.

Looking through oldrim mods, I often feel more inclined to switch back to oldrim just so I can use mods that for one reason or another have never been brought over. Its far easier to find mods exclusive to oldrim than it is for SE. Honestly, if you want to mod, you're better off with oldrim. No need to deal with the hassle of porting mods, keeping your game form forcibly updating, having to consider what version of the game you're running (I've increasingly run into a problem where I can't use a mod simply because I haven't updated my game in so long), and really there's just far more mods for oldrim than SE.

Of course, I know my opinion isn't exactly popular, even if I can make many arguments for why oldrim is better (at least in some aspects) than SE. Either way, I thought it would be interesting to hear what other mods there may be that have never been ported despite all this time. Yeah, mods were slow to get ported (deadly dragons didn't even get ported until like what, 4 years after SE came out?). At this rate, most SE modders have just given up hope that their favorite mods will ever be officially ported and are just resorting to doing it themselves. I do this fairly often, though what I can port is limited. I don't know how to port mods that require other mods. I don't know how to port quest mods. I've never attempted a replacer mod (beyond texture and sound mods, which luckily rarely need conversion). The last time I did so was that MASSIVE animation mod, and I'm still not 100% certain I did it right seeing as some of the animations caused an immediate ctd. Funny enough, I ended up uninstalling it anyway, because it was too script heavy (I had no idea that animation mods even required scripting).

As for mods that have never been ported, beyond the ones I just mentioned, there's also the numerous werewolf mods that for some reason have never come over. Until the Growl mod came out recently, your only option for SE was Moonlight tales. Oldrim had dozens of werewolf mods. Granted, most were garbage, but there was more than one good option available. Yeah, moonlight tales isn't a bad mod by any stretch, but it was your only option for far too long. Surely, there must be lots of people out there upset over how their favorite werewolf mod was never ported.

This age-old question can be answered with an age-old answer. Play both games.

There is not a single mod for oldrim that I want for SE. I have both games installed with different mods and I play them both.

Interesting NPCs SE - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/29194

As to Immersive Armors, it is a direct port of Immersive Armors from Oldrim, where the original mods came from that Hothtrooper used is irrelevant.

EDITED for content - was a little too quick to snap. Apologies for being out of line.

Did I type in interesting npcs? Oops, I meant inconsequential npcs. My mistake.

And quit accusing me of being 'fake news'. I don't make up stuff, and making typos isn't wrong either.

I did this too.

But after modding LE edition, i can say for sure, the best modding experience is for Legendary. Because i don't have a social life aside from work/university, took me 1 full week to set the game awesome, i belive most people can't do this, so SE is better for "new modders and faster" for new modders.

Because people don't care too much about clouds.

I'm guessing you don't get to the Cloud District very often?

What am I saying?, Of course you don't! :steammocking:

There are htd-smp enabled things like skirts, capes, hair, belts, etc. You obviously never even searched for these things.

There aren't all that many on the Nexus though.

Artesian cloaks adds htd-smp to most cloak mods available.

KS hairs has a HDT-SMP version now.

Lots of the newer DX armors have SMP skirts and whatnot.

Most of the really good HDT-SMP stuff is off the Nexus.

Lookup Sunjeong's Patreon (its free) for a bazillion armor ports to SE many have HDT-SMP

Lookup Dint999's stuff on his Discord for amazing HDT-SMP hairstyles.

Then look up packs like the BDO armor pack and the Bloodborne armor pack. You can get the BDO armor pack1 from Dint999's Patreon and there are more BDO packs on THBossGamer's Patreon. (All free)

Might have to go to LL for Bloodborne pack, can't remember.

I apologize - sometimes I'm too quick to bark.

Macho Man Randy Savage Dragons and Thomas the Tank Engine Giants. Both mods combined are MANDATORY mods for ALL legitimate Skyrim playthroughs.

Requiem.

I need that to play anymore.

The only mod which I used which has not already been ported or can not be ported with the Cathedral Assets Optimizer is, I don't know, Skyrim Romance but if I want to play through that again, I can just play Neverwinter Nights.
