Main menu missing mod option.
So I updated well, I didn't know I had the auto update on, last week and updated mods. I use Vortex. So now, I when I load sse, I no longer see the option to check mods. I can't go into the Bethesda mod screen and see the mods available. All I have is: Continue, Load, New, and Quit. I do have Dear Diary mod and I didn't check the main menu replacer, and I still don't see it. I've searched everywhere!

I don't know if you are still struggling with getting the mod Tab back, but I found a way by doing a clean wipe and reinstalling Skyrim the mod tab was brought back. I recommend watching Following along this YouTube video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g67CnHD1wvY )

will this erase any mods that are currently installed on vortex by any chance??
If so it may break them completely
Especially for me
In my case I have the mod options via the pause menu when in game or able to save a game and NOT the main menu itself
But after logging in mods will NOT download from Bethesda.net at all after added to library
Instead it just shows my current load order from vortex
I have tried using extensions like import from Bethesda for vortex and wouldn't work either and would instead choose my creation club content instead which gets very annoying
The Creation club mods are from Bethesda.net I believe and no it will not delete your Vortex mod list since Nexusmods isn't owned by Bethesda

I'd like to point out that Bethesda.net launcher has been gone for months to years and yet that mod menu has only disappeared recently and bethesda getting rid of it would be STUPID as its the ONLY way for console users to get mods don't spread misinformation

Should be a fix any day.

The Main thing is still the Main thing.

Just stay out of the in-game mod menu.

None of the mods are actually being lost. Just stay out of the in-game mod menu.

We have been suggesting this for years.

I don't appreciate the uninformed assumption that I don't already use Nexus. Actually, I prefer Nexus over Bethnet, but there are some mod authors that have begun to host exclusively on Bethnet as a result of Nexus's pathetic move to forbid mod authors from deleting their own content.

Another note, you're also uninformed on the future of Bethnet. As of the moment, they're only sunsetting the launcher, not the mod service or any other feature that a Bethesda account provides.

Anyway, I found the solution on my own, while trying to fix another issue. While playing the AE quest "The Cause", I found that I could not interact with the doors in Rielle. The solution I found was to delete the patch.bsa file from your games data folder.

For folks who can't access their in game mods menu, and can't find anyone to actually help them, I'd suggest doing the above fix, as in my experience, deleting the patch.bsa has restored my in game mods menu.

This worked for me, just wanted to post it at the end for anyone that didn't read all that.
the fix that worked for me was to do a clean install of skyrim and run it beofre vortex the "root cause" as someone has said bethesda hasn't pinned down yet is obviously vortex

Because apparently some people don't actually know how to use google, or do quick and simple research.

Directly from Bethesda's statement regarding the sunsetting of the launcher:

Q: Will I still need a Bethesda.net account if I no longer use the launcher after transferring to Steam?
A: Yes. Many of our games and services still rely on you to have a Bethesda.net account. This will allow you to retain access to Bethesda.net services including game mods, in-game items like skins, and access to exclusive news and updates.
weather they said that or not you don't need your Bethesda account to get the games that were on The Bethesda launcher, they are on steam now after all. you can find them under search and still get them no matter what account you are on. And my Steam account is not the same as my Bethedsda account so you need to read more on that. also not nearly as many mods on Bethesda.net than there is on Nexus.
true BUT there are mods exclusive to bethesda.net does the name sp0ckrates ring a bell pretty much every mod except ART imperial (i have no idea where that one is), ART high elf, GET immersive chests, SET for winter and underworld companions vs vampires are beth.net exclusive

the common factor here is vortex honestly running vortex after running the game on a clean install seems to fix it

You're a life saver thank you so much been trying to figure this issue out for nearly a full day because one of my mods can only be found on bethnet

I FOUND A WAYYY, so let's get to the buttom of this, first remove All traces of vortex ex: delete skse and other vortex files on Skyrim special addition. After that you'll need to uninstall and reinstall Skyrim to refresh Skyrim files and game after that should be ok and running as brand new.IF this doesn't work you need to uninstall all mods you have put or in Skyrim files and that should work.:steamhappy:

BTW make sure If you choose to use vortex and want to change back to Bethesda mods you have hell to pay so I recommend doing it manually then other complicated ways!

Odd. Having the same issue with the ingame mods button gone missing but I don't have a patch.bsa file in my data folder.

But.

For me it was the 60 FPS Interface mod that was causing the mods option to dissapear from the main menu. I assume other interface altering mods may cause it as well.

Deleting the 60fps ui mod did fix it.

Thanks for this reply.

"Deleting the 60fps ui mod did fix it." Data folder and manually delete the two bsa. files related to this mod.

This is it.
All the nonsense about vortex or not-vortex was not helpful.

To be clear, there are multiple *potential* fixes in this thread. I always end up completely baffled when someone completely disregards all other fixes, and lays blame on one specific mod. As if every player has that one mod and that it must be the only true fix.

Point being, if anyone else pops in here and is looking for a fix for the missing bethnet mod menu, do try the other fixes mentioned here. I was looking for the solution for months before accidentally finding a solution while fixing another problem. And in my case, the supposed guaranteed and absolute fix from the fella I'm quoting would have been entirely irrelevant to me.

So, again, keep trying solutions until you find one that works in your case.

Adding the following to your SkyrimCustom.ini should force the Bethesda mod menu to appear:

[Bethesda.net]
bEnablePlatform=1

Where your SkyrimCustom.ini is located/which one is actually in use varies depending on mod manager and settings used.

This fix *should* work without having to delete files/remove mods. YMMV.
