Main menu missing mod option.
So I updated well, I didn't know I had the auto update on, last week and updated mods. I use Vortex. So now, I when I load sse, I no longer see the option to check mods. I can't go into the Bethesda mod screen and see the mods available. All I have is: Continue, Load, New, and Quit. I do have Dear Diary mod and I didn't check the main menu replacer, and I still don't see it. I've searched everywhere!

Be sure you have start steam before start vortex to start sse with the button on the vortex menu
I use skse64 to launch my modded Skyrim. I used to see that mod option even with skse64 but now I don't. So you're suggesting I run SSE without mods?

Omega was saying you need to make sure steam is running first, before you start up Vortex and SKSE. Not that you need to launch from steam.

Assuming that Omega has has some experience where not having Steam running prevented the mod menu from appearing.

Thx for your explanation, that's exactly what I mean :-)

So, I did a total uninstall and loaded up my game, and on the Main Menu screen, the options for Mods returned.

I downloaded several mods & went back to the Main Screen, only to find that the Mods option was missing once again.

Very annoying.

I just start my game (using the SKSE64 icon on my desktop) with Steam in offline mode

Very Happy that's working for you & am glad that you're able to find a work-around. I however, don't use SKSE64, as I use only a handful of mods, some downloaded directly from Bethesda's mod list & a few from Nexus.

This is happening to me as well. Maybe something broke with the Anniversary Edition update?

I thought they fixed that in the hotfix, you may need to wait for the patch next week which will fix

It is because of some mods that requires SKSE like SkyUI

I've only personally been using the ones from Bethesda.net due to my laziness, so that's why I found it weird.

It's because of Vortex. Go to C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Skyrim Special Edition and delete the file loadorder.txt as it belongs to Vortex and somehow breaks the mod menu. Then go in game and re-enable all your mods.

Vortex will automatically regenerate the file when you launch it so don't worry about deleting it.

I'm dying to get my in game mods menu back, but this is the first time I've seen a possible solution. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. Do you have any other recommendations?
