Vampire or werewolf, which is better and why?
In your opinion which one is better
What did you choose
Why did you choose it
What build do you have
Whats your opinion on it?
If you were a thief/assassin which one would you choose

(Im not talking about any roleplay here, just plain old gameplay, so rule the roleplay out)

Depends on your style.
Werewolves are melee fighters.

Vampires are more subtle, acting like midranged casts who uses necromantic effects to damage their foes. Harder to get to work, but their magics can be as effective if you play them right.

I prefer werewolves as sans mods you are in control of your transformations and the only "downside" is that you don't get the well rested skill boost.

Besides, I just never cared for leeches.

Without a mod I usually go werewolf just for disease immunity and no weakness to fire....dragons. Vanilla vampire basically forces you to only go outside at night because of further weaknessses or make blood cursed arrows. More cons as a vamp in base game imo

Werewolf, it has no weaknesses and with dawnguard the perks make it more viable later on. Vampires have too many downsides for me to enjoy.

However if you're going assassin.thief like you said pick Vampire, they get a passive perk of 25% harder to detect while sneaking. There is also the fact that you should be doing most of your stealth stuff at night so people don't see you ao the sunlight won't affect you as much.

Eh, the Werewolf transform kind of sucks though. It has a bunch of extra HP but no armor. It also forces you into 3rd person, which I loathe. I don't use either Werewolf or Vampire Lord for that reason, but even just being a WW isn't bad for the disease immunity and no other major drawbacks; just no rested XP and stupid guard comments.

True but you can cast a flesh spell to partly get around this, granted they don't last super long on Vanilla. You can get Dragonhide(80% DR) to last around 1:30 though. I honestly don't have a lot of experience with vanilla werewolf anymore, I have Moonlight Tales and IDK if OP is including mods, but using Moonlight Tales would make Werewolf vastly superior.

Please, Dont ask this question, and not because its stupid but because its very important to choose which one you like more rather than which one "is the best". If you want to get the most fun out of your skyrim experience, than i say pick which one you find the most fun. (if you pick vampire though, there are some really, really great vampire mods i can send you way.)

This is definitely true. It's also why I rarely do one or the other, unless I'm making a very specific character.

Yeah I haven't bothered modding either choice but I just don't care enough to; neither interest me enough as a gameplay option to really dig into them. That forced 3rd person, while understandable for the game mechanically, really kills it for me.

Werewolves but that is only because of all of the mods avaliable for them compared to the paucity of mods for vampires.

Aren't there more mods for Vampires? That's always been my impression, and by a pretty good margin too.

It would probably be more accurate to say that the werewolf mods tend to be more complex than the ones for vampires rather than to imply that there are more of them. There is no vampire equivalent of Moonlight Tales.

Sacrosanct and Better Vampires seem pretty equivalent to me.

I’ve played as both for a full playthrough.

First I’d like to say these are just my opinions.

The werewolf flipping sucks.
You can’t get the well rested bonus which stunts the growth of your human skills.
The werewolf form is powerful and Beefy but the whole mechanics behind both the werewolf and vampire forms are underpowered compared to how strong your player can potentially get on their own. Yeah it’s op for early game but late game both forms are crap.

The vampire lord is flipping awesome.
Your sneak and Illusion is buffed plus a 50% ice resistance.

The only drawbacks are the stat debuff during daytime and 50% fire weakness but these can be fixed with shrine prayers and enchantments.

As I’ve said before the new form unlocked is crap.

Playing mage the vampire lord is a must have.
