I walk to the burned out place from Dawnstar and it marks the table up, I picked up the key and checked the body on the table but nothing happened, the quest seems to be stuck. I've decided to back up to the save before I left Dawnstar incase that fixes it, but does this happen to anyone else?

Okay, via looking at videos I am missing "Letter from Keeper Cartetta" (or w/e her name is). I've tried dropping the item and spawning it into my inventory but it's still done nothing. Does anyone know the console command to skip through this step so I can progress? Since as I've said, it points to the table saying there's an item there but there's nothing, just the body and a key. It's like the paper isn't spawning. IDK any mod which could possible be effecting it either.

Using Console commands to advance a quest is not recommended, it has a tendency to skip quest triggers, which makes a buggy quest a broken one.

Also by the same light don't use Additem command to add quest items (the letter), since it usually involves a trigger to progress, you need to go find it the hard way, and hopefully hit the trigger that will allow you to continue.

I know that much and it's why I spent a few hours or so trying to reload saves, going back (I've saved from Dawnstar, completed other quests etc. with the same issue occuring), both last night and today. I'm about to try deleting the mod, loading a save, going close by then redownloading the content to see if that works, but suffice to say, I will likely be forced to use console commands if this continues.

EDIT:// This fixed it, spawned the letter on the ground where it's supposed to be, seems uninstalling+reinstalling the CCC fixes it.

sorry for reply to an old thread but thought i might share solution how i did it:

1. type in console "player.moveto 000C3B2B" - this will move you to keeper Carcette but, more importantly, to the hall of vigilant before it got destroyed
2. navigate your way to the table and you will find the letter there, on the table, pick it up - quest updates
3. exit the building - now you are back in front of the destroyed hall of vigilant, as it should be.

Few notes: prior to using the console commant i was standing right in front of destroyed halls although I believe it doesn't matter at all were you are. After using the console command, i didn't talk to anyone and didn't pick up anything else in pristine version of the halls, just in case to not mess anything.

Major hint for this solution found on thread "Is Keeper Carcette actually dead?" on fandom wiki so i guess credits go there ;)

Best idea for that quest is to just beeline for the Hall and grab the note on the table. Once you have it the next one spawns in Dawnstar and the quest is protected from the start of the Dawnguard story. This lets you finish the quest whenever you like, unless a bug eats the note in the inn in Dawnstar.

People are necroing it because it is not solved. The letter is not on the table, not on the floor, not inside the table. It literally does not exist. Answers that equate to "it's just there, duh" do not help when it is not a thing that is in a place that makes sense after a thorough search, including tcl'ing the table.

had never heard of it, just realized it's a remnant of the paid mods debacle, no wonder why I had no clue what this was
