Mods won't work
okay, this ♥♥♥♥ is infuriating, i have been working for probably a total of at least 34 hours to get mods to work through nexus mod manager, before you ask, yes, my skyrim is up to date, yes i am using skyrim special edition mods and not just skyrim mods, yes i have gone through the entire process of nexus mod manager, i have the mods installed and checked off, i have all the requirements for each mod downloaded, i have them installed to the correct folder, as far as i can tell, from watching and reading countless tutorials, everything is correct. Please Help.

Did you install a bunch of mods at once? If so try installing one, testing. Installing the next, testing... and so on. This will eliminate possibly broken mods.

What mods are you trying?

Is the game simply not starting or are the mods not showing up in game? "Mods won't work" isn't descriptive enough to help fix it.

Can you see and enable/disable the mods in the Skyrim launcher?

If you're using NMM, why are you installing mods to a folder? Anyways, run LOOT to catch any (or at least, most) compatibility/sorting problems right off the bat. Double check your mod descriptions and make sure that the mods you have play nice together. Then do as jcewazhere said: start with no mods and see if it works. If yes, add 1 mod and recheck. Repeat until you find the problem.

there's the unp head and body mod, skyui5, and race menu. i mean the game works fine but the mods aren't there, it plays like vanilla skyrim.

If you dont know how to install mods, check one guide, you cant trow in 100 mods and think it will work.
And you should consider to upgrade from NMM to atleast Vortex.

I have installed mods for other games and have watched multiple guides, NMM is what i'm familiar with and idk if i want to switch.

NMM hasn't been supported for a very long time, and what few updates it's received haven't been enough.

Seriously consider changing to either MO2 or Vortex.

Are you actually running the game through SKSE64 or through Steam? It needs to be the former if you have mods that require SKSE64.

i'll consider it, but all NMM does is put mods in the data folder [and of course allow you to manage load order and such] so i don't see why it wouldn't work

NMM have not support for the new light format. It is one obsolete modmanager.
Remove NMM and upgrade to Vortex or MO2.

I can see where you are coming from, but NMM is having more and more issues, and as time goes on it's only going to get worse.

It's pretty much an open secret that the experts have moved onto MO2, but Vortex is also a viable alternative.
