Pure mage build what should I do about armor?
As the title says im trying to do a pure mage run so I was wondering what I should do about armor since I have a perk that when unlocked will give me bonus damage if im not wearing light or heavy armor. What's the best way to go about this?

Use defensive magic instead of armor and be prepared to move quickly. It absolutely works.

Or mod said perk to be less powerful but still work with armor. (My solution. )

Mage armor gives deacent protection until you can craft and enhance a light armor that will give a higher value together with mage armor than the mage armor with buff. Armor cap is at 536 or something. So when you have that armorrating, no matter what you buff or put on you will never benefit any more. Best is to use magic resists enchanted light gear when your enchanting is high enough for dual enchants.
Mage Armor perk in general is great. Especially once you get the dragonhide. which is more then 536, it does a 80% damage reduction, which is equal to 567. The only, ONLY way armor will be better is if you use the exploit for armor potions and enchanting, over and over and over till it is higher.

Oh im not talking about mage armor perk I'm using the Ordinator mod and for not wearing light armor or heavy armor my destruction spells get a 30% damage increase. So im trying to do a build around that but those stupid bandits are a pain to deal with. That's why im trying to find out how to build up my armor without wearing armor if that makes any sense.

Uhhh, no? You can hit the cap with 100 Smithing, 100 Armor skill, the appropriate perks, and any Heavy Armor. You don't need to do the loops to get that high. Hell, you can hit the cap with some of the higher end Light Armors.

Just use Flesh spells. Make sure you skill up and perk up Alteration. Learn how to use Ward spells properly (they can be great, but aren't "all the time" spells).

And conjure something to take their attention away from you.

even with getting 100 in both, it's not enough. You will need to exploit to get it over dragonhide.

I'm also playing with ordinater, And dare I say that dragonhide spell, and the mage armor perks, still trump the light armor option. And don't even get me started with the options you can use with the alteration tree when using armor spells through that mod.

No you don't. The armor cap isn't that hard to hit, you can get it with Iron Armor AFAIK. Maybe Ordinator changes things, but in Vanilla it's astonishingly easy to hit the cap. Flesh spells can get pretty high (for a robe) too, if you're using the perks and Ebony Flesh.

Ordinator changes the entire skill tree for all skills so unless you look at it personally it's hard to explain but the reason im asking about the armor is because under Destruction there's a skill called Robes of the Magi which increase destruction spells power by 30% as long as im not wearing any light or heavy armor.

It sounds like you want that perk, so don't wear armor. I'm also pretty sure that Ordinator doesn't change armor calculations since it's only a perk overhaul. Then there is the fact that it's not a combat/damage overhaul so it's not like you'll be taking noticably more, or less, damage than Vanilla. You'll be fine with perked out and skilled up Alteration.

567 can be reached without exploit, though you may need to level up your alchemy and enchanting, in order to make fortify smithing enchantments and potions. Can be easily done, even for basic leather armor, without having to use the resto loop or anything outside of vanilla functions.

I do have an armor redux mod installed but how much affect would that have? https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/17932
Shouldn't change things to much right?

Dude, why are you so worried? If you want to use that Destruction perk, just don't wear armor. It won't make you die to a stiff breeze.

LOL the problem is I am dying to basically everything above a bandit that's why im asking about armor for pure mage in the first place.
