Motion Sickness while playing
For some reason, I get extreamly nausious when playing skyrim. I cant play more than 5-10 minutes without feeling like I am going to throw up. I can play it in first person, or 3rd person, it doesnt help either way. I used to play call of duty for hours on end, never had a single problem with motion sickness from the First person perspective. Recently I have been playing a lot of 3rd person games Like Assassins Creed and The Witcher. Again, spent hours on end every day playng those games and never had a single problem. Then I decided to pick up Skyrim for the first time since it has been released. Everything was fine while I was making my character and everything as nice and steady. Then heading in game and being thrown into the action, something happened to make me so sick. First person is slighly better because in 3rd person all your surroundings just zoom by really quick. Was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how you overcame it. Also, as of right now I have not messed with any of the settings.

Have you tried changing the FOV?

New one on me, the graphics aren't good enough for motion sickness imo.

If changing to third person doesn't work, then nothing will, in that case give up and play something that doesn't make you want to hurl.

quality of graphics are not important because motion sickness is subjective and is based on various factors for each person.

@OP
I would say, either take another game to play or play shorter sessions and get slowly used to the movements of skyrim.

I was under the impression that unless the graphics were sufficient to convince part of the brain that it's happening, they wouldn't trigger motion sickness. I know it's a mismatch between what the you see, and what the brain is receiving from other senses.

But if changing perspective doesn't work, likely nothing will, because the brain will still receive the mismatch of info.

I have seen people who get it simply from the head bob, And yes, SSE has head bob. I had to check myself as I've never really noticed.

I'm sure its not the only cause though.

Did you try scooting back from your monitor/tv just a little?

Place this in a notepad document

[Display]

fDefaultWorldFOV=90

and save it as SkyrimCustom.ini

It should be in your documents > my games > skyrim special edition folder, where you would normally find Skyrim.ini

The custom file just protects it from being overwritten in the event of an update or reinstall.

You can go wider than 90, but I've found that creates some distortion around the edges. 90 has been a great improvement over the default, for me, though.
