No legendary skills?

After reaching 100 in the skill Im interested in making legendary I click on legendary boxbut nothing happens. It just takes me to the regular tree. Is there something Im missing here?. Do I need to wait until I level up or something.
No mods installed btw

there is no super advantage to it.

making a skill legendary, resets the skill back to 15 and allow you to level your char further. so theoretically you could achieve high player levels and get every perk in the game. besides that there is no point doing that

With the skill level at 100 center the skill in the skill tree and press space button. You shold get a box asking if you wish to make the skill Legendary. Select yes and the skill will be reset to 15 and any/all perks in that skill will be available for use in any skill.

Yup, thats how it should be. But doing that just takes me to the tree as if to choose a perk, no box :(

Wow, This thread is really old but I have been unable to find another that may help me. I have the same problem but do not see a solution here. Is there one?

You select the skill that's at level 100, press space on a keyboard or Y on an Xbox controller, and you get a confirmation dialogue, "Making a skill Legendary will reset it to 15 and return its perks. Are you sure? No / Yes".

Click Yes and you get a second confirmation pane "Are you sure you want to make this skill Legendary? No / Yes".

If that's not working, I don't know how to explain it unless you installed some mod that broke it. It's a simple UI thing, so it shouldn't be affected by bugs that might screw up the world state in one way or another.

No mods. Pressing space just takes me in to select a perk. Maybe I have to hold a beer and stick my tongue out at the same time. Who knows. Thanks for responding to such an old thread.

Have you modified you control scheme? That's my last guess, maybe this doesn't respond properly to remapping.

Is the skill in green? That would denote it is buffed in some way (You may not be at 100).

My advice is arrow key to the skill than press E key (this is the default Use key)

OUTSTANDING Halliwax! I mapped the jump to my button 2 on the mouse! Pressed that and it went through the cycle! Much appreciated!

I'm playing on steam deck and I had the same issue, no mods besides the stuff that comes with the legendary edition, no remapping, but Y won't activate it. Plugged an external keyboard in, pressed space and it worked.

if pressing jump doesn't work for you, can't you do the virtual keyboard thing, but go to a blacksmith or enchanter station to pop up the keyboard so it won't crash out when you close it first. (pretend like you're going to craft or enchant, rename the item, it'll pop the virt keyboard, then just abort the craft/enchant.) Or do like Raziel and borrow your PCs USB keyboard for a second... annoying but doable.

For anyone playing on steam deck and having this issue, you can remap a back button to space and that should work. Just instead of pressing “y” to make the skill legendary, use the remapped space button. Worked for me.
