Skyrim CPU overheating issue
So Tl;DR when I first got this pc I had no issues with anything even with all the mods that I have now, then recently when I started playing again FPS would be perfectly fine then drop to 5 fps.

I looked at my CPU temp and it was at 100C.

Tried testing in an no modded game, not much of a difference. Even with low settings. No frame drops but still a spicy CPU temp at 95 especially out doors.

So is there something I'm overlooking or do I just need a good PC dusting(which I plan on doing tomorrow anyways). Because this is the only game I have this issue on. Other games like Warframe, Battletech, WoW, Heroes of the Storm don't have this issue.

For those curious using a GTX 1070 with an i7 8700k

You need a better cooler for your CPU. When was the last time you dusted out your machine?
Even my old A6 6400k APU never hit those temps in this game and heavilly modded

Have not dusted since I got it so I feel like that will help a lot. But at the same time the other games don't get past 75C so idk. Edit: Even Overwatch on Ultra does not get past 70c

When did you get yr PC? Changing cooling paste would also be beneficial

First off, as JD says, you need a better cooler.
Second if having that many mods is causing your CPU to overheat that much, then you need to drop some of those mods (which probably means starting a new game, unless you have an old save from before you installed them)

Between these two steps you should be able to play without overheating, even 70 degrees is too hot for a CPU.

Even with no mods the cpu temp goes to 75-95c and yet on anything ells I play it sits at 40-55c. So it must be a skyrim issue in my eyes. For example I run Overwatch on Extreme and still dosn't even break 55C.

Last time I had a cpu that hit even 70 was the old Athlon. Even my old AMD A6-6400K never got over 50, and never over 40 after I replaced the cooler.
Not dusting it for a year is bad, especially if you have it in your bedroom. Even worse if it's a carpeted room and if you have pets.
Are you sure your CPU fan is still running?

Here's a great budget cooler that will really help. It's the one I used on my A6

Ya needless to say dusting is in order later today. And yes the fan is running. I'm currently using this https://www.amazon.com/MasterAir-High-end-Featuring-Technology-Customizable/dp/B01B12DQ38/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=cool+master+maker+8&qid=1580202252&sr=8-1

Good cooler. There;s no way you should be getting anywhere near that heat with that cooler
Make sure you pop off the fans and blow canned air through the cooler.
Will help to blow out your GPU and PSU as well. Use a 1 or 2 inch paint brush (not nylon) to brush off the board and fans.

The cooler seems all right. What framerate are you playing the game at? Framerate over 60 is a) not recommended because the engine and blah-blah and b) can stress your hardware.
75ºC for a CPU is normal. When it's 80ºC and above you should start to worry.

my Ryzen 5 2600 never goes over 60, even with the stock cooler

Could it really just be a dust issue though? Because as I said to Alexander I ran run any other game at max setting or their own mods respectively(battletech 3063 mod) and still not get over 55c max. And even un modded skyrim still makes the heat go to 75-95c.

the only other issue it could be is improper ventalation of the case.
How many case fans do you have?

I've tried both low frames and unlocked fps though a mod for my 144hz monitor neither did anything to the heat issue.
