Do you have any suggestions? I don't know of any, aside for those ancient neverwinter nights games, and all those rpgs that came before it like Baldur's Gate and whatnot. Its been a long time since we've had a truly classic rpg video game.

There's tons of games that center around ONLY dwarves out there. Particularly in the indie sector. Hell, Do a search on GOG with just the term "Dwarf" or "Dwarves" and see for yourself. Heck, There's even a Steam curator that ONLY does Dwarf games:

Dwarves are just Dunmer with funnier hats.

Here you go.

Just to cover an additional base in the event that you are referring to miniature humans:

Of course, you could always claim that any Dwarf mod does not qualify as 'good' so that this thread will never have a conclusion (other than endless opportunities for trolling).

There are no 'dwarves' in the more typical sense in the Elder Scrolls. Their name is instead given to a race of elfs more commonly known as the dwemer. They're long extinct, and all the remains of their culture are their ruins which are still being guarded and maintained by steam-punk robots.

As for your more typical fantasy dwarf, there was a mod I saw once for oldrim that added those in, but I don't think its ever been ported to SE, and getting it to run may not be a simple matter. Honestly, new race mods just don't seem to ever get ported, or made, for SE.

to be specific im talking about dwarves that are short, usaly work underground, are good with metal, and sometimes make steam powered machines (not that im asking for a mod tat adds steam powered machines) i am not looking for any that looks like elves. a good example would be the dwarves in wow

Tolkien-style Dwarves are not lore-compatible with the Elder Scrolls series, despite the fact that one NPC's dialog mentions that "Dwarves" were "no shorter than the average human".

Since the concept of Tolkien-style Dwarves (i.e. Gimli, short and stout with a great big bushy beard) could not exist in the Elder Scrolls universe, at least not known by that name, the NPC's comment is out of place.

There are mods that add that kind of Dwarf as a player race, but don't expect them to add NPC dwarves (or Dwarfs since that's also a legitimate mass pronoun for them) unless you find another mod that adds Dwarf NPCs

Examples include Tolkien Dwarfs and Dwarfs from other games, they should still be on Nexus.

yes i do want to play as a Tolkien-style Dwarve and no im not asking for npcs to be added. i only know of one dwarf addons like that in nexus but its for the original and doesn't work for this special version of the game. that is why im asking for a addon that does that for this version of the game

Elder Scrolls fantasy races aren't the stereotypical fantasy races you get everywhere else. So, no. No short little guys singing "Hi-Ho" while they go work in the mine or whatever it is the little rock grubbers do.

Sometimes, honestly, its better to just play oldrim. There's a number of great mods for oldrim that simply don't work for SE anyway. Also, SE is constantly being updated in an attempt to sabotage free mods, so honestly modding oldrim is far less of a headache either way. If you want to play as a dwarf, you'll probably just have to switch to oldrim. As for downgrading, it really isn't. You can easily get graphics mods that make the game look better then unmodded SE (note that re-texture mods work for both versions without conversion, as long as they don't include an .esp file). The only thing you'll notice is your saves are no longer partitioned by character, but you sort of get that through mod organizer anyway, and I've heard there's now a mod that fixes that anyway.

If you really have your heart set on playing a dwarf, you'll probably just need to go to oldrim. There really is no other way. And I highly doubt a dwarf mod is going to be coming any time soon given that new race mods just don't seem to be popular in SE for some reason. There's a ton of them for oldrim, but I honestly don't know of any for SE.

You can create your own dwarf with racemenu

A lorefriendly alternative can be a goblin character (with Racemenu)

Typed "skyrim special edition play as a dwarf mod" into google and this was the first result. You could have had this mod running on your system many hours ago, but you had to have someone do it for you, sad

you can still buy it as a dvd though and activate it on steam, i bought one for a friend i wanted to gift the game to and since said persons pc was too slow to play special edition i gifted him a oldrim retail version; still works perfectly fine and at least here in germany those are still sold, with dlcs for ~15 without ~7€
