Am Imperious- Races of Skyrim mod user's PSA
This is a PSA for anyone who uses the Skyrim Vanity Kit and the Imperious Races of Skyrim mod. I created a new character just now, and noticed that Imperious didn't seem to be working properly, as the names of the elf races were the same as the base game, instead of being Dunmer, Bosmer, and Altmer, since that's what Imperious changes the races to be. As it turns out, it seems that the Skyrim Vanity Kit mod, which adds a ton of different colors to choose between when creating your character, actually messes with Imperious. It says on the description of Imperious that if the racial changes don't show up on a character it's because you have a mod that loads after it that changes races. And just as the description says, Skyrim Vanity Kit both makes changes to races, and is loaded after Imperious. So that means you need to either change the load order so Skyrim Vanity Kit is above Imperious, or settle for the color settings that the base game gives you.

tl;dr if you use Skyrim Vanity Kit it makes Imperious not function on new characters.

Alternatively it should be possible to patch them with xEdit, no? Paging more experienced users.

Yea you could just merge them, Or edit out the conflicts.

Well yeah. Makes sense that two mods that make edits to character creation and racial stats/abilities/etc. would conflict. You even have a solution in your post, so what is the actual point here?

It's for people like me who have no idea what they're doing with modding to be aware of the conflicting mods. Also so they don't waste like 14 hours on a character just to realize they don't have things working properly like I did...

I just get my mods from the in-game selection, I don't know how this stuff works tbh.

Well don't use the in game method since it sucks. It also seems like you've now learned how important it is to actually read about and get into how mods work instead of just hitting a few buttons and being ready to go. Start with reading the stickies on this subforum.

Getting you mods from the ingame selection, is one of the worst things you can do. People do it because it is "easy" - they don't seem to get that modding, by definition, is, for the vast majority of people (99.9%), anything but easy (at least if you want to do it right).

Ninja'd!
