Hey guys, I have recently encountered a rather annoying glitch in my game. Basically all NPCs get stuck on the first step while trying to go up. They keep on "moon walking" on the same step and they simply won't stop. I am also playing a legit version of SSE from Steam. The mods I use are: Vivid Weathers, Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul, Climates of Tamriel, Lamposts of Skyrim, Campifre and Frostfall. I tried playing without Immersive Citizens thinking it was causing the trouble but I still encountered the same glitch. If you guys know any other mods which may fix the glitch, or widen the stairs, I would be very happy. Thank You!

PS: The same thing also happens to me, however when i reach the last step i get stuck there for about 1-2 seconds then I can walk and go downstairs normally. It often happens in breezehome, dungeons and the bannered mare.

All stairs or a specific staircase?
If you are getting stuck as well it could be that the staircase is risen too far, possibly by a wild edit. Otherwise it could be a janky navmesh in that area.
When you tried without Immersive Citizens, did you start a new save to test?

Thanks for replying but it looks like a solution from reddit helped me first. Thanks for trying to help anyway tho :)

ah sorry, forgot to mention such an obvious thing. I was using a mod called "walk faster" which make, as it suggests, walking a bit faster
it also affects the npcs and when i turned it off everything went back to normal

I have that in my set-up as well, and have not had that issue with it - in fact, this is the first report we have ever come across of it having that effect on NPCs. (In fact, after using it for a while, I even increased the speed a slight bit, still no problems - this with several hundred hours using that setting is both SSE and Oldrim).

I guess it was just me being particularly unlucky

I have the same issue but am not using that mod. I have been playing for a long time with my existing mods and load order with no problems at all, and this just started happening out of the blue. The Internet seems to be of no help. So apparently this bug happens for many different random reasons. Unfortunately, it's a game-breaker.

My character stutters when going up stairs with a high angle and some low angles. Honestly don't know what to do cuz no mods I have should be causing it

That is just the way the game is - nothing to really be done about it.
