Show Quest on Map button missing ??
It's been a long time since I last play Skyrim ( not Special Edition, but the old Vanilla one ).
I could remember it wrongly, but wasn't there a button to show where the quest marker is on the map ?? Basically you track a quest, then there's a button " Show on Map " you press it then it will just teleport you to the location on the map showing you where is the quest you suppose to go or teleport you to the map marker. ( Not teleporting to the area in the game, but just auto pan through the map to the area )

You have to open quest log by pressin J.
You can do so while in game or viewing map.
From there you have to activate quest marker by clicking quest you want to follow.
After you activated you can press M while selecting activated quest, this will move your quest location to the center of the map.
After that you can select the nearby places you VISITED to fast travel (teleport).
So if you haven't visited the place where quest marker is, you cannot fast travel.
And if your quest object is middle of nothing (no town, dungeons or buildings with markers), you can never teleport directly, you just pick the nearest place to teleport.

Let me double confirm this, because I've tried it many times and I couldn't find it.
I will update on my situation, it could be Mods causing the problem. Because I have quite a few HUD Mods like SkyUI and Matter of Time, does the Show Enemy Level and HP consider a HUD Mod ? But what's ironic is I don't have one single Map Mod.....

Ok just wanna update, I think there's a bug or maybe my mods causing it. The button still works it's actually M, I don't know why I recall it as J.

Anyways, thing is the button won't show up anymore like it use to. So now if I were to open up my Journal / Quest, I can see the bottom there's a button M - Show on Map.
If I were to select any quest at all, the button on the bottom disappears. Since I forgotten it was M and mistaken it as J that's why I thought it's not working.

Now even without the button showing on the bottom, if I were to track / selected any Quests and if I press M, it will pan the map to the marker to where I need to go.

Well I don't mind as long it's working....

Sounds like you have a mod that removed quest markers, likely a UI or HUD mod. Read the mod pages and try and see which it was, and if you can't find it out that way you can do the slow method of turning all your mods off and then adding in one at a time until markers stop showing. Once that happens, you know which mod caused it.

As I suspected, well the only HUD / UI Mod I have is SkyUI, Matter of Time and Show Enemy Level and HP. I suspect could be something to do with SkyUI, since it modified the HUD / UI the most.
But as I mentioned, the Show on Map button still works luckily...only that since It's been ages I last play Skyrim, I've forgotten how it actually works and which was the Default Button, but now I finally found out and got it working again I think I'm just gonna ignore it.

Tks for the help and info guys. Hopefully anyone is having same problem as me is able to find this useful as well.

Sorry I should fix my mistake, J for journal not map, M is for the map and opening it, it should show J for journal.

Not all quests pan to the area, as there is no direct target to pan to. If you're in Skyrim and the target is in Solsthiem, or visa versa, then you can't pan the map over either (since the other world space isn't on your map). It's not necessarily a bug.

I know, my main problem was I have no idea what was the default button for it to show on map, since the button is missing on the bottom, and it still does even till now, but since now I know it's M, I was able to use it and it works, only it won't be showing me the button on the bottom left as it should. Let me take a screenshot later and show you what I mean.

Here this my map

Note J for journal this is where all quest data is store.
As Zsrai stated even if quest are stated if not cited on the map then the quest is elsewhere.
Not sure if anyones said this.

In your journal make sure the quests are active, including if it's a minor quest that the show minor quests is active.
You should be able to put the pointer on the quest, so it highlights it, and press "M" to see which pointer is for that quest. But not all quests have pointers.

Yes, then when you press J, it will go to the Journal displaying all the Quests.
After that, you have to pick / track / select a Quest to make it Active and it will ahve Marker on the map.

The moment I press J, when I enter the Journal, bottom there's a button " M - Show on Map "
That info is completely gone now. But it still works luckily....I wonder if this is the same for everyone else. It will show up the moment I press J, but after that when I'm inside the Journal, if I were to move my mouse at all the " M - Show on Map " will be just dissapear....and won't appear no matter what. But it still functions luckily...

It should be something like this. This is for when you're using a controller though.

Toggle Active - A
Show on Map - X
Time, Week, Year

All these are now completely missing for me. But as I mentioned, luckily Show on Map still works as long I remember what's the button.

Ok taking the dragonstone bit, have you been to Riverwood and talk to the trader there? that will trigger the quest.
Golden claw first then the court wizard at Whiterun.(Both can be done at the same time.)

Your Pic. That is what you do for the quest, don't bother with X just look on your map.
But this need no trigger you can do it without any quest symbol. (I just go and do it and carry on and then see the trader.)
In map on my pic about lower middle is a quest symbol that where it will show(simular). (Arrow and a door together) This will show Bleaks Fall Barrow where it is in the map if you have activated the quest.
PS sorry I don't use a controller so someone else will have to answer that part.

Yeah I done it, this isn't my pic, I'm just using it as an example. What I'm saying is currently for me, all those buttons on the bottom you see in the pic it's all now missing for me. But the fucntion still works luckily.

So I'm not sure if it's only happening me or is this happening to everyone else as well.

The only time I don't see "Show on Map" is when the selected quest doesn't have a quest marker or doesn't have one that the map can currently pan to. I can't speak for Toggle Active since I have never once looked for it as I use M&KB, but I wouldn't be surprised if SkyUI removes it since it's completely superfluous; just click on it with your mouse and it gets selected anyways.
