Dawnguard kill vampires?
I’m RPing my character as a good, yet closed-minded, Paladin type, and started the Dawnguard DLC to slaughter some evil vampires!
However in the first mission, I meet a woman vampire who seems as if she is supposed to be friendly??
According to my quest log, I’m supposed to help her get home, but why in the heck would I want to do this??
Can I simply attack her, even though she is my follower? Would that break the quest line?
I have no interest in becoming a vampire or even helping those evil doers!

You need her help in order to get to the big baddie.

She's set as essential and can't be killed. I pretty much played my char the same way and was severely disappointed to discover that.

It's an "enemy of my enemy" situation. She can help you get to the bottom of what's going on with the vampires.

Welcome to a story driven quest. Skyrim isn't as "open world" as people like to think, at least not in the questing and such.

Obviously you failed on your wisdom saving throw when she cast "Charm Person" on you. Even the best can roll a 1.

That's what open world survival games are for, be it Conan Exiles, RUST or, say, Fallout 76.

Gee, its almost like the real world is not full of easily categorized people.

pretend to like her to get all the info about vampires so you will be better prepare to hunt them down latter on, then afterwards drag her by her hair to our favorite mage in the swamps to heal her of her bad ways once you are done with her.

Gee, it's almost like we're role playing a self-righteous ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who does view the world as black and white.

Oh wow coooooool. It's almost as if Bethesda doesn't give two ♥♥♥♥♥ about your character and didn't write any real choices into it's game because that would be hard.

The only actual choice with any meaningful consequences is Dawnguard vs Volkihar, and even that has little reaction from the rest of the game world.

They used to. Even if it amounted to "quest failed".

Yeah, but we're talking about Skyrim where they don't.
