How strong is "bound sword?"
I just acquired my first weapon bound, and I've not ever really used them before, how powerful are they?

If you get a certain skill from the conjuration tree, as strong as Deadric swords from what i know.

First time using conjured weapons.

A Bound Sword will do as much damage as an (untempered) Orcish Sword. If you take the Mystic Binding perk, it will do as much as a Daedric Sword. They are affected by things like perks in the One Handed tree and any Fortify One Handed enchantments/potions.

Now, a Bound Bow can be a very nice weapon. With the Mystic Binding perk, it's on par with an Exquisite Daedric Bow with Daedric arrows. There's a tome available at Fort Amol, southwest of Windhelm. You may need some Fortify Magicka/Conjuration gear to cast it early on. Until I picked up some high quality bows and got my smithing skill up, it was my main weapon on my Conjurer.

Early in the game, conjured weapons are quite powerful relative to the other options available to you. Once your crafting skills have been improved a bit, though, they become dramatically less powerful compared to tempered weapons - in the long run, the "type" of weapon matters a lot less than your ability to improve it at the grindstone.

Bound Bow is still a viable option mid-game as arrows cannot be improved in vanilla, and daedric arrows are difficult to come by until high character levels. So even highly improved normal bows (very high bow damage + low arrow damage) can result in lower damage output than Bound Bow (high bow damage + high arrow damage).

Disadvantage of bound weapons early on is that You need a while to conjure them. Which means that any ambush, animals rushing Your LDB, etc. can result in a dead LDB before the weapon is even in one's hand.

Another disadvantage is that bound weapons are treated as enchanted ones. Wchich means that You cannot combine them with powers such as Elemental Fury.

Other than that, conjured weapons are perfectly fine, weight nothing (excluding Bound Arrows in Survival Mode - I hate the bug), and are quite useful. They can make quests such as "No One Escapes Cidhna Mine" a milky run for any melee / mixed build.

bound weapons have a few bonuses
1 they can be as power full as normal weapons
2 they can unsummon most summons with one hit( perk needed)
3 they scale on the skills
4 they receive bonus from enchantments(like one hand, archery and two hand)
5 the bow version has limitless amount of arrows at 0 cost
6 there is no weight that will encumbrance you
7 they are weapons with simple oblivion enchant that has no level limit on it! yes its stronger then expel deadra spell since it works for any level!

downside you can not choose their enchantment
the only reason your craft your own weapons is to have health absorb and paralyze enchant same time!
other downside their time of summon duration.

with that they not bad as long you use them properly
