Finding a Book for Urag Glitch

Every once and a while, you will find that this quest is completely bugged. It happened to me when he had me retireve a book that was already in my inventory. The Quest ID is MGR20

After scowering a bit, I found the way to get around that and get the reward from it.

First you need to list the quest stages

Console command will be "player.sqs stage_id" (no quotes and replace "stage_id" with the case sensative quest ID). Example for "Fetch me that Book!" (whuch is MGR20

player.sqs MGR20

That will list all the quest stages in the quest ID you typed in

The last stage ID listed will be the number you will want to use for the "setstage" command. In the case of Fetching the books for Urag, the last stage will always be 200...so it should end up lookng like this:

setstage MGR20 200

This works with all side quests and main quests and should only be used if you run into a bugged quest.

It's a game engine bug...and a well known one. For now, i'd stick to that for bugged quests.

No sending a ticket to Bethesda won't change anything they have known about these bugs for years and released three whole new versions of Skyrim and left them still in.

It sucks but the options are suck it up and live with the bug, use console commands like op did or find a mod that fixes it.

Well, then probably it would help if someone started to work on CC that is related to Urag's quests. They would *probably* want to fix the bug in order for the CC to work right... ;-)

I think that Quest MGR20 has a finite amount of books to find. I actually ran into this glitch by already having the book in my inventory....whichever book it was, I have no idea because the game never indicated what book it was and went straight to returning to urasg for the reward.

It was a well known glitch even in old Skyrim.

A nice bug fix would be to fix the occasional CTD's when fast travling on horseback.

you could just highlight the quest in the journal and press the map button, it would then show you where the required book is, and you can then go and get it.

You don't understand that it simply showed where urag was because I already had the book he was looking fo in my inventory when I started the quest. I had no way of knowing what book he wanted because the quest marker simply reverted straight to him.

Really?, it usually directs me to a random dungeon where another version exists, which I then pick up and give to him, which is why I said that.

Really. It happened the way I described...it just randomly went straight to him. It's a known glitch nonetheless. Usually occurs randomly after you sell the Dragon Scroll back to him. After all of that, however, you will no longer be able to run jobs for him, or at least I have not been able to do so after I had to use the console to unglitch it.
