STUCK IN, RAVENROCK MINE!
Here's the scoop. I got the guys journal and the sword. It says something about swing it in differnet directions. I've swung that thing every way I could think of. I actually clipped, Lydia by accident. I looked for sword slots, etc. So, any ideas would be great.

You must perform a 'Power Swing' in the direction of the red markings around the door.

Apparently don't know what a "power swing" is. You'd think I would by now, especially @ level 40.

The only thing under controls as far as power, it reads like this....
SHOUT/POWER 'Z'
Which I've only ever used for shouts. I've tried a running start, swinging, all kinds of stuff. I can hear stuff happening on the otherside of the door. Like blades or some other trap.

Move the mouse in the direction you want to swing the Bloodskal Blade in as it is swinging.

Say you want to have it swing left to right....you use the attack button and move the mose let to right simultaneously. Same goes for any orther direction.

You are all lugnuts. You swing your sword, but instead of just swinging it, you hold the swing button until he gives a hard swing.

I'll give anything a try. swing and hold and direction. I'll try it all. Unless there's some other thing I should be trying here. For all purposes I'm doing this on a PC. I'm willing to bet it's probably cake on a console!

If i remember correctly, if you hold the swing, the hard swing is called the power swing, and that sword gives off a projectile.

Yup...and depending on the direction you move your mouse it will be horizontal, diagonal, or vertical.

It's shooting off a beam of red lightg, but doesn't seem to do anything. Is there a spot I should be aiming at or just at those horizontal beams?
Maxokll Feb 3, 2018 @ 11:10am
I only get those beams vertically

Try straffing left and right while power swinging.

OK, this happened to me several years ago. No matter what nothing happened. So reload to an earlier save and try the left step swing somewhere else, any 2 hand weapon. If that works then continue on to Bloodskall, if not go to an earlier save and retry. right or left does not matter at some point it has to work then go into Bloodskall and nail that sucker, BTW have Lydia wait at bottom of stairs and don't forget to go back and get her. (I did that) I usually go through the swinging knives with Healing up and ready.

Excellent idea! I already hit poor, Lydia once already. And I've already managed to get her stuck behind a gate on more than one occasion.

IT WORKED!!! I didn't have any two-handed weapons, so I just kept practicing in the room with that sword. The trick I figured out was, when I was swinging, I used the left key (A) in conjunction with the mouse and got that horizontal swing fairly good. So, I figured I got this! WRONG! I was trying to swing all the way from one side to the other. The entire width. And after fumbling around this entire time, I accidentely only went across ONE SIDE and ♥♥♥♥ started happening!!! all down hill from there. Oh yeah, let's not forget the mile and a half of swinging blades I nursed, Lydia though. I thought she was gonna be a gonner! Thank you SO MUCH!

Also, don't be a derp like I was and try a power swing while sneaking. It won't work. You must not be crouching.
