lightning bolt much more powerful than thunder bolt?
I have expert spell mastery all the way down and STILL the apprentice lightning bolt is more practical than expert thunder bolt, even though I have all spell cost halved due to mastery, and then 74% less cost from my enchants, but STILL thunder bolt costs too much. I am lvl 25 with 223 magicka, 240 hp. even with it halfed and then reduced by more than half again lightning bolt is still far more usable. lightning bolt seriously only uses F O U R magicka a cast while thunder is a whopping 29 per cast, and I always dual cast. a dual cast lightning bolt will do about 82 damage which a normal thunderbolt not dual cast will do 90. a dual cast thunderbolt will do about 200 but still lightning only costs 10 magicka for a dual cast, which staggers all enemies anyways, while thunderbolt will cost about 70 magicka a dual cast. Pretty sure this isn't working as intented, or did i not put enough into magicka? I am working on enchanting to eventually get to atleast 90% reduction cost where it iwll probably be a lot more useful but still.

Seems to me that trading the ability to wield a weapon or a second spell should count for something as well.

The magicka efficiency of spells (damage per magicka) doesn't change a whole lot as you go up, they just do more damage per cast.

How much are you putting into Magicka at level ups? You're the only person I've ever heard having issues with spells costing too much, even with stacking enchants.

My true magicka is like 190 but I have enchanted gauntlets that bring it up to what it is, 223. I have been putting most of my level ups into health because i don't want to get weak mage itis, and I figured that theres no point when ill eventually get 95% reduction or more.

Well that's your problem. Either wait till you get 100% cost reduction (which takes the fun out of it, IMO), or dump points and enchants into Magicka and Magicka Regen and just keep casting. You're leveling Destruction so slowly (from your other thread) because you don't have enough Magicka to just keep casting and actually fight too. Again, you don't want to cheese the system but you're cheesing the system by not investing much into the actual Mage stat because you're going to cheese out 100% Destruction cost reduction. Stop power gaming and just play the game; Skyrim isn't hard enough or complex enough to require min-maxing on any difficulty.

im putting points into health because im a batle mage in heavy armor that runs in, if i was a pure mage i would actually invest more into magicka. Also im not going to go to 100% cost reduction im going to stop at 90 or so because that would literally take all my problems away and the game would become a complete joke on legendary difficulty because of stunlock. i see your point though, i didnt say i was a heavy battlemage.
