Is it true that a recent(ish) patched ended vampire raids on towns?
Since i cant disable dawnstar until i want to play it, i was worried about always having to watch for vampire attacks on the NPCs but after reading for an hour online it seems like it was maybe patched that that bs no longer happens in the creation club update?

some people say its a bug, some say it was intented, something about a switch release which just happeend.

so much info, anyone know about this?

I never heard anything about a game update changing this. Even if it was true, I doubt many will complain since vampires killing NPC's is game breaking. Also, you're thinking of Dawnguard, not Dawnstar. I use this mod to disable the attacks anyway. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6893

I haven't experienced a vampire town attack in so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ long. I guess they did remove them.

Historically, installing Dawnguard has been enough to trigger it, though you won't see many attacks until level 8.

You can end them yourself by killing Harkon, so long as you don't keep on triggering eclipses with Auriel's Bow.

Worried about vampire attacking your towns? Go to bed at night. Problem solved. Really.

Random vampire attacks on towns and cities only happen at night. Be asleep at night and they will not happen.
It's an intentional mechanic of Dawnguard... it didn't get removed.

There hasn't been a PC patch in a while, not since even before Switch release if I recall correctly.

simple way to get vampire attacks
kill enemy like crazy steal and be assassin character
the darker and more mist it get the better
the more attacks you will recieves
equiping deadric set will enhance this also.
reach at least level 10 to unlock town attacks

do NOT donate money to beggers
do NOT donate money to riftens temple of Mara

the closer your actions friendly towards deadras the more attacks you get
2 deadric exception Azura and Meridia

the more clouded and darker the world is the more attacks you will have
the more it will keep raining and you will even get glitch look water puddles
due to much rain what floods moste areas.
with it raining long enough you can even flood towns.

unlocking the ebon mear slightly alter town attack ration
aslong you without Nocturnals buff its slightly lowers chance to spawn town attack
as sone you get nocturnals shrine sneak bonus
the chances for town attack return! as long you keep stealing
doing Vex and Drevlin sub mission will also increase town attack chances!

when choosing at dawnguard choose joining Volikahr Vampires this will make it easier for town attack encounter.
when choosing Dawnguard it will slightly lower your town attack encounters

traveling alot from hearthfires home has higher chance to prevent town attacks
instant traveling between hold increases town attacks chance.

if it cloud and rains its major sign that you close to deadras, high town attack chance
if its sunny it a major sign you close to Aedra, low town attack chance

the way to counter this is at riftens temple of mara you just donate
if you donate money to beggers this slightly lowres the encounter

the closer your actions towards Aedra the less attacks you get
2 deadric exception Azura and Meridia

riften temple of mara it greately lowers the encounter
and brightens the world and makes it more sunny
and lets the land dry out again

with that in mind depending what you do
you can either focres the attacks
or skip them dpending on these actions.

the town attack ration can so be altered during gameplay from round 5%- 95 % town attack spawn chance
depending one you actions and choices!

certain game dates have 100% town attack wave!
can be skipped by waiting outside in open world on those dates!

nighttime from 8 pm- 8 am high chance for town attack can be thief attacks, vampire attacks, dragon attacks

daytime 9 am- 7 pm minor chance for dragon attacks and at bad weather high chance for any attack wave

hope this helps, at least with this you know now what to do to trigger/prevent the town attacks!

yeah reading online posts from 2012-2017 were hundreds of forum posts where people said they were losing importatnt NPCs to vampire attacks on towns.

some newer posts i found like literally weeks old, some a month or 2 old, but none older than that people have said the NPC killing raids on towns have stopped happeneing, and some posters mentioned that when the creation club update hit in late 2017 is when the NPC-killing, game-ruining attacks stopped happening.

some people think its a bug, some think it is intentional, as it was one of the main complaints of the special edition since u cant deactivate the DLC until ur ready for it, like u can in the original game.

i was hoping someone knew more, but whatevs. it sounds like it was changed so the vampires only attack you on the road and wont kill a whole town on u anymore. hopefully this is the case

Just download When Vampires Attack (and Run for Your Lives, does the same thing with Dragon attacks) if it bothers you. There is an AI mods that does what both of those do (and more) that a lot of people use too, but the name escapes me currently. So much easier than enabling and disabling DLC to work around vampire and dragon attacks.

I can see a fair bit of discussion about this, but none of it comes from Bethesda themselves. It's hence unknown as to whether the change was on purpose (they're notorious for their bugs)... it wouldn't surprise me if they release another patch which happens to enable them again (intentionally or otherwise), or if the unofficial patch team takes it upon themselves to do so.

This claim surprises me - it was specifically mentioned in the lead up to SE's release that we'd be able to do this, and the data file structure indicates that they're still all packaged separately. The only limiting factors I can think of is that the unofficial patch requires everything to be active, and that you'd probably need to use a third-party mod manager to turn them off.

Immersive Citizens.

I'm a bit sceptical about this, but having said that I have to say that since I restarted playing about a week ago I haven't seen a single vampire attack (and I have been above level 10). Dragons are still screwing with me, though. Night and day,
