Are you using mods? Because I never experienced that and I only play vanilla.

Given this quote on the mod description page:

So the mod quite frankly, doesn't work.

... I wouldn't count on it.

This issue is typically caused by missing facegen data. For example, since SE won't read Oldrim facegen files, one way to trigger this is by importing Oldrim mods that edit NPCs without running those mods through the Creation Kit first.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD the mod, just follow the instructions
But, quite frankly, only worths the time if you have 200+ mods installed, otherwise it's easier to just reinstall everything.

First you'll need to figure out which mod is missing its facegen data. If you don't already know, then disable half of your list and give it a test. If it works, switch halves and split again, or else just split again, and continue until you've narrowed it down to the specific mod that's affecting your vampires.

You may find there's a specific combination of mods that leads to the problem. If all of your groups suddenly come up "clean", recombine them in different combinations until you get back on the scent.

Once you've identified the mod(s) in concern, consider the source. If it's an Oldrim mod, and you find that the author has released an SE version, then you should obviously switch! If it's an SE mod, then you should check that you've installed it properly, and consider contacting the author if a re-install doesn't help.

If for whatever reason you can't get the author to fix the issue, that's when you'd consider attempting to create the facegen data yourself.

Apparently vampires are a special case:

If you're using the better vampires mod just go in to your powers menu and change what the mod does to the face of the turned vampires instead of changing the race change the eyes only the npc is still a vampire just does not have the facial features.
