She is flagged as a child in the game. She cannot be hurt without mods. She can be made to cower in fear with illusion magic, but not pain.

If you kill her parents without her seeing you doing so, and you talk to her after a few hours ingame an adoption dialogue opens up

If I remember correctly, I somehow made that beggar outside the inn in Whiterun into a vampire, made him a follower and invited him to watch over my kid(s) at breezehome.
