Although this was written for original Skyrim, the basic principles apply to SSE as well.
If you refuse to install the patch, then there is little anyone can do to help should you encounter a problem, and any efforts to do so are pointless, as so many solutions to problems rely upon it.

True, but they count as another plugin and I'm never QUITE sure that the edits are as clean as I would have made them.
Then again, it's really easy for people to mess up their game just by installing it according to the topics started in this forum.
