Does having mods reduce performance a lot on Skyrim SE?
I'm on Oldrim, R5 1600 @3.8GHz and 1050Ti G1 OC, and I use the performance version of RealVision ENB and 200+ mods, mostly vidual enhancer, and I run the game from 40 to 60 fps (But I average on 45 - 50)

Would I get the same performance on Skyrim SE or worse one?

In general it all depends on the mods really and also if you're running an enb for instance however not sure everything is ported yet

stuff like enb's and weather mods can effect performance
Mringasa May 20, 2018 @ 1:23pm
ENBs, ReShade, and weather/lighting mods will be the big killers. I use NAT because it's lightweight and does both weather and lighting. That + my ENB dropped me from a stable 50 to 38-42. It's still smooth, but you can see the hit. Also things like Verdant in the heavily foliaged areas and better textures will hit your frames, but those are the largest ones.
SpeedFreak1972 May 20, 2018 @ 1:29pm
however also certain other mods can have a hit for instance JK's skyrim for instance

Ahhh, to answer your question though, if you meet the Recommended Requirements, not the Minimum, you should be just fine. My own experience is that SSE runs about the same, or better, on my system than Oldrim did. It is also much more stable to mod with as I have had 0 issues setting up a stable build. The memory increase was a godsend.

I have a 1050Ti so I reach the recommended... Plus I won't probably be using ENBs but reshades this time, which I've read is similar and has less fps loss so fps+ and no, the only weather mods I'm using are CoT and Vivid weathers...

But on your experience did passing from oldrim to special edition cut your framerate?

Edit: Looks like 780 is like 50% more powerful than 1050Ti but... IDK

Unless you are down by the minimum range you shouldn't suffer a huge performance hit. What matters most past a certain threshold (in my experience) is available vram and ram. If you are already stable with texture/visual enhancements in sle, then you are probably going to have the same frame rate if not higher due to the 64bit memory.

The only possible thing that could worsen your framerate is the god rays, and those can be disabled. (they won't, you already have a system that can handle them)

No. I'm actually running a "heavier" build with SE at the same frames. I have a lot of animation mods, and a pretty solid amount of texture replacers. Scripting is a bit harder as well with my last 2 builds. The only place I might have made some gains is going with NAT instead of Vivid or CoT or whatever. Even that though isn't much difference.

The worst area is Falkreath with Verdant, SFO and max grass distance. I remember in Oldrim I would cut it to half to maintain a decent smoothness. Not having that issue with SE.

I'd suggest trying ReShade, an ENB, and then a combination to see how heavy it's going to hit your frames. You might find one or the other to be better, or even the combination of both to be just fine to play.

I was thinking of using ClearView ReShade, would you recommend it?

There is the bug that SSE Fixes/SSE Engine Fixes handles.

I have so many trees in riverwood I cant even se the road on mainstreet and don't notice any big performance hits. I use project hippie, paradise cities, LH forests of dibella and all the other LH landscape/foliage mods avail for sse. I also run it all on ultra settings and my mods are in 2-4k with 4k chose when avail. I had old rim yrs ago and remember I had to have tons of mods to get it to look this way where sse does it almost out of the box with some 3d trees and landscaping added after. I also have loaded up many mods that add in new lands with quests , not sure if that's supposed to be a drag on performance or not. hope that helps.

What's your avg framerate?

I have the same 1050 ti card as you. It runs se great for me. I don't have any enb's or reshaders because so far I have not felt it needed it. I run everything on ultra settings and the landscape mods I download I try to get all HD 2-4k mods. I use SMIM texture mod and project hippie, paradise cities, LH forests of dibella and loaded all the other LH landscape/foliage mods for se ($ I think), realwater2, dolomite weathers and Skyland landscape texture, also got a sun mod today . I have so many trees and plants that riverwood can barely be seen when standing on main street and have very little if any performance loss. Same with whiterun and riften , both used to give me trouble on my old computer. You should be fine getting se. Only negative thing i have noticed is that there are not the endless mods avail like there are for oldrim. That said there are way more now than last yr and more get ported everyday. Its like a porting frenzy. Here is a screenshot i took today that shows how it looks out of the box with only weather, skyland and some tree mods.

Hold on , I will go turn on fps counter and run around riverwood, whiterun and riften then report it back. brb

Thank you a lot for this...
I've seen videos where 1050ti gets only around 50 fps on ultra so with mods I think you will average around 30 and 40s?

Because I was thinking to set the graphics to medium high and then mod

No problem. Its actually way better than that. I averaged 55-60 everywhere and the one or two small spots where i noticed it dropped into the mid 40's was small and if i had not been looking at the fps counter i would not have known. I averaged 55 fps in whiterun and same in both riverwood and riften, solitude i got 58-60 the whole time. I will include some screenshots of those towns so you can see i have trees galore, and i had actually ran whiterun near the water in heavy trees to check that cause i noticed running water would give me problems on another computer i had.

I can give you my list of landscape, weather and texture packs i use if you want them to use as a guide to make something similar for yourself. I would give you it as a mod order list but i just built it and not sure if it will get problems in future as i play it. It sure looks nice now though
