Survival mode worth it?
I've been looking at it for a while now and now with my new found love for crossbows I thought about making a hunter type character. I think it would be cool to have another element to factor into gameplay.
How does the mode work for followers? I use Inigo all the time and can't live without him.
How does it handle non-standard armors? I only use like 2 so I can deal with not having them, but I've been looking at hunting mods that add new pelts and whatnot too so would be nice to know.
How many new bugs and issues were introduced with it? Also how bad is it not having fast travel?

Armor mods work with no issues, though Wormth stat on modded armors is usually default (27 for body, 13 for boots, etc.). On the other hand Wormth depends on material and cover tags assigned with the item, hence if mod creator included those then You are good even in this respect. And if not... Well, in some cases You will get more Wormth than You should have, in others a bit less. Not a big deal. At least there is some good reason to wear Skaal set now. :-D

Basically, followers are not affected by Survival Mode, nor are any other NPCs. So no impact on followers, and You can use whatever follower mods You like.

There are very few *bugs*, though You will need Unofficial Skyrim Survival Patch ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12655/?tab=posts ) if You are using USSEP. The only actual bug that I encountered is that Bound Arrows (from Bound Bow) have weight now - a bit annoying, but should not impact You at all as You are planning to use crossbows.

There are also some *perks* of the Mode, like in some very rare cases game forces You to wait until nightfall or something, which impacts hunger and exhausion. Not a big deal if You are playing the game right.

Eventually: while not necessery, and perfectly playable with default setting, You will probably want to decrease Your timescale to 10 (console command: set timescale to 10). It makes hunger and exhaution a bit less bothersome, while still keeping needs as an important part of the game.

It costs money and is useless... is that worth it to you? If so, buy it.

What exactly do you mean by this? Did you even try it or is it just the bandwagon backlash against paid mods? Is it really bad?

I don't have an issue with paid mods, if the mod is worth the payment.

Wait so it's not even a free addition? Screw that. Get Frostfall, a camping mod and (if you'd like) a mod that tweaks the perks and stats.

It's far better than any "Survival mode" has ever been and allows you to go as deep into role playing as you'd like. It also allows you to actually set hunger, thirst, energy and dirtiness rates (it includes bathing) yourself, or turn off the modules you do not want. A large portion of it is animated too.

It's also free, did I mention that?

i agree,
there is realy no need to pay for an Mod when the free Version ( Frostfall + Campfire) is better.

It was free for a short time after its release, advertised as "limited" in an attempt to encourage people to sign up for some Creation Club accounts.

I have never tried Nexus survival mods, so I cannot compare; but I can tell You that I like CC Survival Mode very much. Thanks to it I am having a lot of fun, and surprisingly game is less boring to me.

It is sad that CC SM is not free anymore, but I am eager to declare that *in my opinion* it is well worth its price. SM is also so much better than any other CC up-to-date.
