How to kill Vigilant Tolan?

I'm a vampire and have finished the Dawnguard questline, and a group of vigilants (including Vigilant Tolan) tracked me down (i'm guessing something added in from a mod). I killed everyone, but he refuses to die (is essential), and setting him as nonessential through the console doesn't work. How do I kill him?

Ya I am guessing whatever mod you talking about borked something, he is killed by the vampires in the first Dawnguard quest you go on.

Do you have Better Vampires installed (or Better Vampires NPCs)?

I know with certain settings (BV, not BVN) they send Vampire Hunters after you and the boss Vampire Hunter is a very difficult encounter.

Well a two year old unanswered post isn't really a problem. This post simply means they did the same thing you did, use the mod and don't like the result.

The mod has run a script changing the value of an NPC, this means it is baked in your save.
A console command can't change that. The mod has changed him to hunt you down for all time.

We Don't even know if the OP has Better Vampires (or another mod) . For all we know they are trying to remove essential status with the NPC targeted in console (you need to run the command with no ref ID showing in the console).

I just assumed Better Vampires because he said they were hunting him down and that's the only Vampire Related mod I know of that has hunters and I vaguely remember the main Hunter guy was a turned Vigelant (and I can't be bothered to load up a game with the mod active and investigate further if it's the same guy). All I know is he was a Serious Pain to kill and he tends to run away and return later with more hunters and be a pain. I have a hard time playing Vampires as they are so so so poser ass lame.

Though BV has a setting for Vampires to Feed on Vampires and I like that. But it conflicts with Clean up your dead which allows me to constantly kill vampires over and over (interacting with them without crouching will cause them to come back alive). My god it is fun as hell just killing them over and over and over and over and over....soooooo fun. Especially if you have Violens and get the really cool death scenes. I can literally spend hours just killing the same vampire over and over and ....you get the point (almost said pint there, as in Pint of Blood, but you don't you bloodsucking ♥♥♥♥♥ of Molag Balls.

Anyway.
