Why do people hate on 'Skyrim Together'?
Playing Skyrim Multiplayer sounds cool? why are the devs getting death threats and alot of flack for it? Its a cool idea.

Yeah its not right what he said but give him break, devs are prob young, has worked so hard and went through so much bs, be understanding

No, the "be understanding" excuse stops working the moment you accept money from people.

We do understand, that's why we can criticise so strongly.

The developers stole code, the lead developer has done this before, there is no misunderstanding here.
They took money from people via Patreon, incurring a moral and ethic debt, when things went bad they tried to ignore said debt via an open letter.
They have taken the moral low ground time and time again, this is indefensible.

If they turn over a new leaf, and start stop taking quickcuts while trying to look down upon their potential customer base, then we will reconsider. But until then we ARE understanding, and what we are understanding is they have the morals and ethics of a cat.

Sorry, I've had pet cats, and I loved them, just that I have no illusions about them either.

If it's any help, I could make a crack about the Skyrim Together team behaving like dogs?
(also had pet dogs, and loved them too, before anyone gets offended by that)

I think a tapeworm infestation is probably a better analogy for them. 👾
The World is reaching a boiling point out there and here people sit and create World War III over a few lines of overlooked codes. This is why I hate this society. Who gives a flying? Whether you like the mod or not why not focus on something important instead and just ignore the mod if you hate it or appreciate it if you enjoy it.

Ok first things first ... if you think this is "WW(3)" or even close to it, you've lived a life that has been far too sheltered to prepare you to be able to survive in the real world.

Secondly, scummy behavior shouldn't just be ignored, and the devs have proven themselves to be scummy; even if you believe the stolen code was a "mistake", the rant "harmless venting", and raking in thousands upon thousands of dollars in cash with very little to show to it isn't a scam; well, your argument of "ignoring something you dislike" does not apply to your post why exactly?

Stolen code is a crime.
There are no victimless crimes.
It's a repeat crime for some of the devs.

I don't know how to dumb it down any further, or want to.

Edit: I do wish people would stop trying to excuse this type of behaviour.

Thanks for that much needed nuance.

I would conclude:
No matter which side you prefer to support in this drama, this drama clearly shows we are all flawed humans. And grass is green. Let's not make redemption an obsolete word and move forward. :-)

Let's also not water powerful words down into meaningless garbage either.
Exactly. That's how drama gets created.

Now, the haters need to read the entire story before making more comments:
The Skyrim Together team asked the SKSE team if they could use their code, which was posted publicly at the silverlock site for such use by modders.
The SKSE team did not respond to the request.
Since they had already been granting permissions for other mod authors to use their code, it was reasonable to presume they wouldn't object.

Skyrim Together went into development, and then began asking for Patrons to GIVE MONEY (not "invest with the expectation of return or repayment", as is being suggested), and then the SKSE guys decided to respond, and said "No".

The ST team removed the bits of SKSE code THAT WAS ACTUALLY BEING USED BY THE SKYRIM TOGETHER MOD TO EFFECT ITS FUNCTIONS, but overlooked the bits that were not directly being used to effect the mod's functions.
When the SKSE team went through the code to ensure compliance, they found the bits of unused code, and raised a stink.

You know all those references to an arena in Windhelm in the Creation Kit that aren't linked to anything? There is absolutely no difference between that and the unused SKSE code remnants that initiated the "code theft" allegations. None. It was there but not being implemented. It was clutter.

It's petty jealousy over the fact Skyrim Together brought in more money through a Patreon account than the paltry donations the leeching peasants have tossed to the SKSE team for their hard work and dedication to improving the mod scene for far more mod users and mod makers than there are people who actually consider a multi-player Skyrim a "good idea".

As for the "we don't owe anyone anything" comment, the one guy who did post that later retracted the statement and apologized. That means you forfeit all right to bring it up forever. There is no discussion here.

As for the death threats, hopefully the idiots who made them will serve 30 years hard time in a harsh prison, regardless of how old they are, so they can serve as the example to the other 12 year olds that you just don't have the right to threaten someone else just because your panties got twisted over something that doesn't concern you.
Or, the recipient shows up at their house with a baseball bat and cripples their entire family, from the babies to the elderly, to set the example directly.

Yet again, you are completely incorrect but state your incomplete knowledge as fact. Then you even have the gall to declare that other people need to do their research first. Why are you still claiming that the SKSE team never got back to the ST team when it's well documented that they did get back to them and said no? There was even a standing clause in the terms that the lead dev couldn't use SKSE assets before the ST team even asked.

Stop being an uneducated clown for once in your life.
