Best follower for bodyguard purposes?

So I'm playing as a young deity that is more focused on exploration and trading so I need a follower that can just ♥♥♥♥ things up while keeping me protected.

Would be nice if the follower was a female but if the females are bad I'll take a male too.

Heck, just use Lydia. She is THE tank. Mjoll is a fine fighter too. As far as mods go, there are thousands of OP followers.

Lydia sounds like a good choice, I actually do want my follower to charge in head first for once :D

I've never had an issue with Lydia or Jordis (the Housecarl from Solitude residency). they're both female, they can both take a hit, and every now and then they'll both stunlock some poor fool with shield bashes.

serana can be useful due to her necromancy, one more body to take hits for you

Only issue with Lydia is if you are trying to sneak, otherwise she is a good follower.

Get the redgaurd housecarl.

That one duel wields scimitars and deals absurdly fast damage.

Also you can give any follower diving blessing by making them examine a shrine. Hope that helps.

Lydia has the best pathfinding (for me) for some reason. Jordis is also good. I avoid the males as the plague as they always tend to get stuck everywhere.

Both Lydia and Jordis are great tanks.

Mjoll is essential, so you won't have to worry about her getting killed (read: you accidentally killing her.)

I'm personally playing as "tank-melee attack", so Lydia isn't the best for me.
