Of course some people do. OP has not given his reasoning behind asking for the exploit though, so it's still a stretch to just assume that's what he wants and to declare all other answers to be invalid.

If question asks "How to execute this specific exploit" and people answer "How to get money in a cheaty way" without ever talking about said exploit then yes. We can declare these answers are sh*t.

OP did not give his reasoning behind why he wants to do the exploit, so it's perfectly reasonable to make assumptions about his intentions. Most likely, he doesn't know any other way of cheating to get more money, far less likely is that he wants to do the exploit "just because".

Ergo, the answers were perfectly valid. End of discussion.

The literal title of this discussion is "Whats the exploit for selling merchants their own items?" Under which the user who created this discussion specifies "saw on spiffing brit and it was recently uploaded. Want to do the exploit myself"

He stated his reason in both the title and the actual post. He saw it on YouTube and wants to recreate it. That is his reasoning.

Totally reasonable, because when I say: "I want to go to Rome.", I do of course mean that I want to travel to Rome, because I just want to do it, for no other reason. The journey is the destination after all, and I could not possibly have any other reasons that I simply didn't explain to you when I told you that I want to go to Rome. I don't want to see the city, no, why would anybody make such an assumption?

Back in reality of course, OP does not even know how the process works, so it's completely idiotic to assume that OP wants to do it just "because he wants to do it" out of nowhere.

It's like somebody watched a video that inspires them to pick up a new hobby and then says "I want to do a Caberiall Kickflip! How do I do that?" And even though they have no prior experience with skateboarding, you get mad at anybody who refers them to general skateboarding guides instead of guides that show them how to do that particular trick. Because after all, they asked how to do the Caberiall Kickflip, durrrr!

But you will go to any lenghts to defend your silly position, won't you? It's like you've already committed to playing dumb, and now you feel like you have to go through with it.

Nope, pretty much was just interested in doing the glitch since the glitch looked fun to do and despite my many skyrim hours i had not heard of it before.

The cause was my unnoficial skyrim patch which removed it and some other fun exploits unfortunately.

Do you have skyUI? if so then i did not find a way to make it work with that...
If you have the normal UI then this guy explains it on video -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E08jd6xcyKQ

i have not tried this exploit in over 2 months( i used to be an adventurer just like you) now i have no clue if its with right mouse hold or left mouse hold. and i remember dragging over his name not to the right as shown in the video.

what i remember doing was something like start trading when in the merchant window i would go down to my name right click and hold (or left click and hold i dont remember) then drag all the way up to the merchant's name and press E it should switch to his inventory and you can sell his own items and lvl up speech.

Note! i noticed a couple of things as i was doing that, 1. when you do that the item that you have selected in your inventory will be sold to the merchant, i usually buy a bee or bread to have them as 1st in my inventory. 2. if you have multiple items of the same type that you are trying to sell from his inventory it might sell those items from your inventory, i dont have consistent data though, example, you have 4 hide helmets and the vendor has 1 if you sell him the hide helmet his number will go up with how many you have in your inventory and you wont have them anymore... but really inconsistent... basically just sell him his most expensive item.

Hope it helped
Good luck

Mmhmm. Sometimes people just want to do things for the sake of doing them.

Sorry so many people are dickwads. The point of this exploit is NOT the money to begin with, it's to easily power level your speech to 100 near the beginning of the game. You CANNOT easily get infinite money with this exploit. It is NOT the same exploit someone linked about, just very similar.

It does work, I'm doing it right this second; it works exactly as described in Spiffing Brits video.
Steps are;

Open shop inventory

Select your own name so all items show up (preferably a single item selected rather than a stack, and something you dont mind selling; bread or a abecean fish work well)

Holding left click on your name, keep holding and drag the mouse to the shop keeps name

When there, press E to sell the item to the shop (simultaneously letting go of the mouse button).

This doesn't work every single time, however, which is why it's best to use something cheap that starts with a or b so you can easily get it back to try again (you'll get the money lost back anyway). It may take several tries to get it working, so just keep at it. You will be able to tell it worked because it makes a distinct sound, you'll be seeing items not in your inventory, and because if it worked YOUR name will be highlighted and if it didn't THEIR name will be highlighted in the menu.

Have fun, and good luck!
(Using as far as I know an up to date game, but with zero mods, I'm literally doing this as I write this)

Ok if anyone really wants to know how to use the glitch now, just hold the left click on your name, go to vendor's name and press E. Then just sell whatever you want and get every last coin from that npc. :steamhappy:

If you have the unofficial patch (you should) it won't work, as you might have noticed his game is unmodded. What is the reason you wish to do it anyway? If you want gold and are going to use an exploit to get it mind as well just use console commands at that point.

If you have the right perk, you can sell stolen items to ordinary vendors, which by default would include their own stuff.

He is talking about an exploit which allows you to sell vendors their own stuff that is currently in their shop inventory an unlimited amount of times. Has nothing to do with stolen items.

this is an incorrect statement I have the unofficial patch installed as well as about over 100 mods and the exploit still works make sure the first item in your inventory is not stacked and that the vendor has enough "gold" to buy it if not u can always do the easy item and gold reset trick (quick save punch vendor load save for people who don't know) if this was also not obvious this will not work with UI mods like SkyUI that change how the interface works.
