Rigmor of Bruma is the worst mod ive ever played (Minor Spoilers)

Rigmor of Bruma is by far the most incompetent, lazy, fanservice style story i've ever had the displeasure of downloading. It was so bad and so buggy i couldn't finish it. It started by me downloading Rigmor of Cyrodill wanting to see the Imperial City in Skyrim... but alas i soon discovered it to be a sequel mod, and decided to fully understand it i should play the prequel... and so i did... and god i wish i didn't.

Everything about this mod reeks of laziness. Lets start with every single dungeon in the game... it is ENTIRELY composed of pre-existing interior cells with MINIMAL changes, if any at all, some cells make absolutely in no sense, in one dungeon you go from a mine, to a dwemer ruin, to a nordic ruin to a fort. EXCUSEEEEE ME? I'm sorry but wtf is this? Was this made by someone who had no idea why skyrim layouts were the way they were?

Lets next talk about the elephant in the room... Rigmor of Bruma is NOT a likable character, she is whiney and reckless and bordering on ♥♥♥♥♥♥, she constantly complains and uses modern slang which is very world-breaking and distracting and for some INSANE reason the creator of this mod scripts your dialogue as if you have NO CHOICE than to fall in love with her. This was AWFUL as my character i used was a Necromancer who already had a love interest she was VERY loyal too and i kept groaning everytime these mushy "I love you dragonborn" scenes appeared, the mod gives you NO oppertunity to keep things casual if you arent head over heels for the OC of this mod creator. I am 100% convinced this mod creator made an OC and gave her the most perfect mary-sue elements to make her absolutely perfect, she is the total chosen one and is so much cooler and stronger than anyone ever was and no one can resist just loving her!

There was one time where she cusses you out on a mountain because despite you doing literally all the work for her lazy ass and i genuinely wanted her to be offended, but of course not my character is FORCED to make amends and act like a stereotypical high school boyfriend and go "oh oh im so sorry please forgive me" ffs, what the actual hell was this dev smoking!? Not that it matters because the argument goes nowhere and is quickly dropped afterwards.

Also progression is completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ in this mod, it doesnt make it very clear but there are times where the quest will literally bug out if you fast travel, this is exceptionally annoying because i did this a MULTITUDE of times only to have to reload to fix this dumb scripted mod that expects you to never fast travel. On addition to that the mod takes no account of war status during it, meaning because i had FINISHED the war and sided with the Imperial Legion, not only was all dialogue related to Ulfric Stormcloak incredibly awkward because Ulfric was dead in my game, but ALL imperial soldiers attack you and Rignor on sight for a duration of the game... and you have to go to Riften... and Windhelm... and Falkreath... this led to multiple times where i had to MASSACRE 15+ guards before i could talk to rigmor to hear her dumb inccessant whining about how sad she is and her sad troubled past.

On that matter, YOU CANT RELY 100% ON A SAD PAST TO SELL A CHARACTER! There was NO EFFORT put into her personality to make you like her, she is literally a whiney bratty teenager who cried about her dead family at the hands of the thalmor, and i get it, thats sad and all but so did HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE IN THE GREAT WAR you're a drop in the bucket dear, you have to do more than that to get me invested. Serena also has a sad backstory but she's headstrong and evolves as a person, Rigmor DOESNT she's the same whiney "please help me dragonborn im so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ useless" character you meet at the start of the mod and doesnt change whatsoever.

On a final note i do have to say the music and voice acting is VERY good, however thats the only good thing i have to say, this mod can burn, im never going to redownload it, and I think it was one of the lazy, most self-inserting mods i've ever played and I urge you PLEASE dont download this one, there are TONS of better mods, like Farskaar, Forgotten City, Project AHO, Beyond Skyrim Bruma. You really arent missing out on this one...

It breaks a lot of minor quests in the main game by removing areas of the map as well as killing off large numbers of minor npcs (including everyone at Narzulbur) for very little reason.
Interesting NPCs would be a better, less intrusive alternative if one wants an extensive follower mod rather than just rolling with Inigo and forgetting anything else.

I actually complained about this on the nexus forums - I said it was inexcusable to delete named NPCs in order to make his mod. The mod author blocked his content from me (as if I would ever touch again this piece of crap) and my posts were deleted.

Tbh my only problem with vilja is the voice acting. It's too monotone. The writing itself is not bad

I'm more infuriated by mods that have phenomenal voice acting, but are not very functional because the author decided to give overcomplicated buggy quest (ie caesia and livia).

I didn't really have many bugs with rigmore of bruma it was the sequel that I ran into a bunch of them in but it was nothing that advancing the quest stage never fixed. I do agree that Vilja is pretty poorly done, at least in my eyes, and she sounds a bit like she was recorded through a tin can. Honestly though I played all of the rigmore mods in VR which may be changes the perspective or something I don't know I've never played it flat however from start to finish it's a bit of a cliche that much is true however I saw really nothing to corroborate some of these complaints. Then again I run through most of the mods out there and I was really just looking for a quest to complete when I installed this

Just found this post while trying to debug Rigmor of Bruma, I have to say frankly the worst quest mod I've ever tried is Helgen Reborn, and by far none other passes it.
I appreciate the hardwork of the mod authors, but some mods are just bad. So while I show my appreciation to modders, I also do not hide the fact that some mods are just blatantly awful.

The title should be "I didn't like Rigmor of Bruma" because 99% of what you list is stuff you don't like, not actual problems with the mod.

The mod is childish at times, and the interaction with Rigmor is pretty cheesy. We're probably not the target audience of this mod.

1st of all did you miss the entire section where i mentioned the constant bugging out. Not to mention it is quite world breaking, the use of modern slang and the inconsistencies with the base game make it VERY much a problematic mod in terms of what its trying to do, and thats be a lore friendly narrative mod. Not to mention as some other people have since pointed out this mod literally breaks other quests and kills off important NPCs

To address your second point i would like to point out that Skyrim is a game rated M for Mature by the ESRB or 18+ by PEGI for those who live in the UK. This is a game for adults and this story feels like a fanfiction someone wrote in middle school about their 'most bestest character ever'. If adults arent the targeted audience for your mod than who is. I dont accept 'you arent the target audience' as an actual criticism when the media itself is meant for adult audiences.

Can I say that there is a reboot of the mod that fixed those bugs? It's not as buggy as the original one. Also they are on the verge of making Rigmor of Tamriel the 3rd and finally chapter of the Rgmor series. just saying.

"Oh god, please no, don't make her romanceable," I pleaded, knowing how this will end.

It was too late. I had to see it through. I go to wake Rigmor up, and SHE'S A COMPLETE ♥♥♥♥♥. WHAT A ♥♥♥♥♥♥ BRAT! Every time she yells at me to "wait up!" in her annoying tone I want to slap her with the business end of my axe! Then, she had the AUDACITY to insult ME for doing all of her work FOR HER. You're forced to say "oh I didn't mean it" when you yell at her BUT I ♥♥♥♥♥♥ MEANT IT.

Then, after I have established that I consider her a complete grunt with a capital 'C,' she keeps trying to ♥♥♥♥ me!

Then the mod takes a wild ♥♥♥♥♥♥' turn to tell me that "Rigmor is the most specialest person in the world uwu and you have to like her because THAT'S. THE. STORY! And she can tame bears! And is Azura's champion! Don't you love her so much?"

As a matter of fact, I don't. She constantly complains about me, constantly whimpers and whines if I call her out on it, yells at me if I get more than 10 feet away from her, and she requires CONSTANT check ins. THIS IS AN ADULT!?

I wouldn't even be so mad if she was like a 12 year old kid. She sounds and acts like one. Everyone else treats her like one. But no. She's supposed to be a grown adult woman. With a forced romance arc. Where she constantly berates you. How nice.

Maybe you would like Mirai, she is 17 so not exactly a little girl and also a marriage option but a helluva lot more tolerable than whay you describe, in fact she only starts off that way, once you progress with her quest she gets nicer. The Romance is also not forced on you, you must specifically ask her about it.

I just want to say (since this post has returned from the dead) I stand by my original Second place post. I will say this. It does train you for Fallout 4 Companship. Once you endure Rigmor...you can endure anyone. Even Dogmeat.....EVEN DOGMEAT (and Strong...Dogmeat is technicall worse, but Strong has a Voice...so....Dogmeat is worse, but not by much).

Man its funny to see this post get necro'd every few months by someone else who either looked up the mod on the steam thread or just stumbled upon it. I always check what people write here despite having long moved on from this mod and skyrim as a whole, interesting stuff.
