Hunterborn Recipes Not Appearing
I'm trying to cook meat but the recipe says I am missing the ingredients even though I have them. I am using Hunterborn along with Hunting in Skyrim and Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul.

My best guess is you need a compatibility patch between Hunterborn and CACO due to how CACO portions food. I think Kryptopyr's Patch hub had one.

So I have the patch installed for the Hunterborn MCM version but as it turns out there are actually two sets of some of the meats I am trying to cook. One set from CACO and the other from Hunterborn. I think it may be because I didn't install it at the start of my game.

I don't think the point at which you install the mods will make any difference. It is the way foods are portioned. They basically become new foods. Hunterborn has a taxonamie (sp) section where you can add the CACO foods, and alternately as mentioned they can be patched. But they will still appear as multiple entries in the menu. If you're dead set on cleaning up the menus you'll have to make a LO specific patch with xEdit (SSEEdit) and more or less remove the hunterborn foods, and add CACO foods to hunterborn. Bit of a pain but a good way to learn xEdit.

It does.
NEVER, I repeat, NEVER install or remove mods within your playthrough because you'll run into issues. Need to create a new save/game whenever you (un)install stuff.

True, or alternatively, run Fallrims Tools, the save cleaner, it cleans orphaned scripts and stuff left behind from mod uninstalls.

I know not to remove scripted mods mid play through. I was talking about the installation order correcting the menu issues in a fresh game as per the OP. Also Fallrim tools is a last resort for a kaboomed save not something you recommend lightly when you'r working on a build.
