Can't start the bards college questline

So, I get to solitude in my new modded play though of Skyrim SE and eventually wind up going to the bards college. Fully expecting things to go smoothly I walk in without a care in the world, until I talk to the headmaster. The dialogue choice saying something a long the lines of "I'm looking to become a bard" isn't there. After reading up on it I find out that I have King Olaf's Verse already and that is what is probably causing my problem! So I read that USSEP actually patches this problem, but I have the latest version of USSEP and Skyrim SE so why is it not working for me? I continue reading and find there is a console command for this quest to restart! I was so happy until I actually typed in the command and it did nothing. (Yes I'm typing it in correctly and yes all my mods are working just fine) The load order is sorted with LOOT, and my files are cleaned with TES5EDIT. Also if its important I am using Vortex.

1) roll back to before you used a console command for this quest. These things can break flags that quests need to progress.

2) you may have to talk to a board to get the information about the college if I'm not mistaken?

Thanks for the quick reply! I already have gone back to before I put the console command in after it didn't work. I will ask a bard agian to see if that works but its already in my journal so I don't think that will work (ill try tho)
