Local map bug
I was told to start a separate thread on this since the unofficial patch apparently won't fix it
Sometimes, while exploring, the local map will erase square patches of itself when I cover too much ground
Like this, in Falkreath
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1842452073
It happened in the Legendary edition, too
I have no mods installed

My specs are:
Windows 10 Home 64bit
2x8GB ram
Intel i5-9600k 3.7 GHz
500GB HDD

Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Now, on occasion, on the world map, I will have one grid not render - it just appears as a blue square. It would seem to be just a glitch in the game itself. As for interior maps, I may have had that occur on my old PC, but really can't recall. These things only happened rarely for me, however, and we're usually gone next time I loaded the map.

So, the question is, do they appear constantly, or is it just once in a while? Also, is it just the interior maps, or is it the exterior as well?

Way I see it, interior maps aren't big enough that it will happen, or at the very least I don't recall that it ever did
Unless you count Whiterun and other walled cities as "interior", of course
It usually only happens when I explore too much of the map in one area, after that I can just explore the erased patch again but chances are a different patch will disappear when I do

So, it is only the small map that this occurs in, maps of caves or dungeons?
Jampolo Aug 22, 2019 @ 2:32pm
Not in caves or dungeons, no
Just the overworld and walled cities

And, you have already explored those areas blacked out areas - actually walked through them?

Subscribed ... for all the good it will do ...

Just saw your response in Unofficial Patch thread.

When you close the map completely, and then reopen it, is there still a blacked off area?

Yes, it's still there
I even fast-travelled to other locations, and when I came back it was still there

Try making a manual save, completely exiting the game, and then relaunching and loading that save and see if it is still present.

Nope, still there

If you have mods, post your LOOT sorted load order. To post, click on the 3 vertical dots in the upper right corner of the LOOT screen, select Copy to clipboard from the dropdown menu, and then paste here.

It could be a load order thing. (Heck, this is Skyrim, it could just about be anything - lol!)

Well, install the Patch - it would be nice to be wrong if it actually fixes this.

The only other thing I can think of offhand is to verify the Master files:

I'm going to go offline for the night, but the Pacific region members should be coming on line, so maybe one of them will pop in with some fresh ideas. In the meantime, hope you have a good night, and I will check back tomorrow afternoon. I am subscribed, so I'll see anything as it get posted.
