Am neutral but am not ignoring the "subtle" negative signs the accuser seems to be sending out.
Personal testimony not proof enough for you?
“As things went on, he started to become more misogynistic and sexist.
He talked about the mystical power women hold over men with sex. How men are helpless and they need sex. How he needs sex, and a relationship, so he can write his music. He talked about how composing is sexual, and how he will write about sex as inspiration in his music. He talked about how performing music is very sexual. He wrote songs about women that he had relationships with this way. What he does to women, is what inspires his music. The work he composed for video games is based on this. . .
He made advances on me and I explained that I didn’t want this and wanted a friendship. He was very threatening, and didn’t listen. He made it clear that it’s ‘him or bust.’ He raped me. Throughout this time Jeremy acted like a victim, and blamed women he was in relationships with (or forced relationships on) for what he was doing.”
-- from Lawton's blogpost
And if I had been raped by someone I wouldn't sit on it for 10 years. I would have gone to the police the next day and had a medical examination. When you delay, your case weakens. What's her motive for bringing this all up now?
Yeah the motivation for bringing this kind of thing up after so many years is always hard to discern. Could be that now the 'time is right' or could be that it took 10 years for someone to muster the courage to make the accusation. Who knows?
I've worked in very male-dominated situations in the past (I'm a musician myself) and not ONCE have I felt threatened by any of my male colleagues or people with influence or power, I always felt respected.
I suppose if she hadn't made the accusation people wouldn't be getting all upset about it...maybe she should've kept on 'lying down and taking it?' I don't know.
Same here and the reason i never look into the private lives of those whose creative works i admire. The few times i have it was usually the same old same old negative story of too much partying, anger problems and addiction issues. I'll stick to their creative gifts and keep the magic they put in my life alive. Everything else is none of my business.
Suppose you become somewhat famous in the future, and some gal you barely knew accused you of sexual assault without hard evidence, which you did not commit, what would you think? I am not saying Soule did or did not assault the lady. Maybe he did, but that is not the point. The point is if you want to incriminate him, then in front of law, actual proofs other than words should be provided. Otherwise, it is a weak accusation that proves nothing at best or a vicious gossip with some hidden agenda at worst. If he actually did not do it, then what about his tarnished reputation? Is it justice for him, should he be innocent?
The claims so far are:
- that the online confessional is suspicious;
- that there isn't enough hard evidence to believe the accusation.
I probably won't ever play Skyrim again after this because now everytime the music plays....
Edit: OK. Thank you for clarifying my claim.
