What is the easiest way to backup mods?
Is it just enough to copy the Saves, Data and Scripts Folder and overwrite it to the brand new folders? because all mods are in the data/scripts folder. i use nmm btw.

click the wrench and screwdriver button on top of NMM there is some backup and restore options (mods go in all srots fo folders inside data, depending on the kind of mods it is, but not everything in data either is mods, so to do it manually would be a pain in the ***) Havent tried using it myself yet though, I will soon have to as parts are on the way for a major upgrade to my comp, including new ssd's)

Yes i backuped once via NMM but the restore didnt work then, so i dont trust in it anymore. so now i need to know if the simple copying and pasting of the folders is enough to backup, i think it is but looking for a confirm atm :D

It is but you need to backup the plugins.txt also, if you want to keep the load order. This is obviously not optimal as everything will be installed manually when you restore it. Maybe wait for Vortex which will probably have a working backup feature.

Mod Organizer2 keeps downloads and each installed mod in a separate folder, plus inis, mod lists, load orders, saves etc. So to backup nearly everything is then simple. The NMM replacement, Vortex, might do something similar when it is released.

Keeping the downloads is worth doing. Over the years I have collected 1300 mod downloads. Many of the these are no longer avaiiable. I also kept my enbs as getting the settings right can be a major time waster.

Can i just copy my whole skyrim folder and paste it into my new disk? because i actually just wanna format my computer. the reason i dont wanna use the nexus backup function is because i edited some of my mods and saved them as master file. im not sure if it works

The scripts folder is in the Data folder.

probably not alone (registry and all that), though if might work if you do a proper install first, and then overwrite the whole thing (and to be on the safeside, would be best in that case the path to your skyrim folder would be the EXACT same both before and after the copy-paste(including same driveletter), but evne then I wouldn't garantee it to work really),

Mod files have nothing to do with the registry. Its just a bunch of meshes, textures, esps, scripts, and bsa files. They aren't programs that you install.

Well yes, that would be stupid and unnecessary.

NMM stores your mods in C:/Games/Nexus Mod Manager/Skyrim by default. The files in Skyrim/Data are merely pointers to that folder. That means that when you uninstall mods thru NMM it only removes the files from Skyrim/Data, they are still there in C:/Games/Nexus Mod Manager/Skyrim/Mods.

The easiest way to backup mods if you are downloading from Nexus is to download the mod manually to a folder ie Skyrim Mods when you download with manager.
