Don't get me wrong, I still get annoyed at this person tracking me down and forcing an encounter. But I am not as irritated.
Of course there's a mod for that, hadn't bothered looking. I got annoyed when he outlasted the dead dragon at my gate.
Problem solved now, thanks. There's "provincial courier service." You can choose home delivery, which I did, to a home I never go to. And it gives a courier posting where you can go pick up your deliveries yourself. Safer for everyone concerned.
If it's that big a deal, have some fun with it. There's a mod called Abduction. I think it was originally an F4 mod. You need to allow adult content with Nexus.

Really?
Never had a courier try to deliver something while you were engaged in combat or trying to do something else ? Having to reload because Mr. Idiot locks you into dialogue while 2 band marauders are chopping the ♥♥♥♥ out of you kind of makes you a little resentful.
I was mostly joking. But yes, it gets annoying seeing a stranger lurking by your door every time you enter or leave. I really don't understand how anyone could not be bothered by that, but whatever.
And that courier and his forced dialogue, especially with Sand of Time has gotten me killed more than once.
Ugh it's like he picks the perfect time to do just that.
As for positive moments, I did once manage to escape him! He locked me into dialogue as I was climbing into a carriage, and that allowed me to escape him! Of course, that only works if you don't have touring carriages installed, otherwise he'll chase you all the way across Tamriel just so he can annoy you when you finally stop.
Its also rather annoying how there's really not much for courier mods to choose from. Though honestly, he's somewhat less annoying in my game since I have quite a few quest mods that start with a letter from him. Yeah, he still locks you in dialogue, but its better than the repetitive 'hey, I got this absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ inheritance from some this random guy whose death was probably your fault' bs. At least now when I see him, its probably the start of a new quest mod I recently installed. You'd be surprised how much more bearable that makes him.
Sounds like a cool mod. SOT has just the opposite effect regarding how annoying he is:
When you get low on health (which happens a lot with that mod) there's a chance of an NPC spawning to help you. When that NPC dies you get an inheritance letter. That same mod spawns invisible assassin attacks. So it's looped a couple times where I get attacked, almost die, NPC spawns, dies, I get the inheritance letter and get attacked while locked into conversation with idiotboy.

Just so you know, I've been attacked while in a conversation during a vanilla play through. I got attacked while mining inside a mine once too, but that was with SOT.
Crafting is blocked if an enemy is nearby, but apparently not conversation.
I've only seen the courier in cities and towns but have been attacked during a spawn while in conversation. I think I was able to tab out and resume the conversation afterwards.
It's possible the courier is a witch. I don't remember if witches float or sink. But they're supposed to be able to fly, so if the courier goes over a waterfall and doesn't fly away, he isn't a witch.
