Is enb really worth it?
I have been ♥♥♥♥ing with it for a while and am finally losing patience. Sun invisible, sun going through terrain, takes like 40 - 60 fps.... Unless someones got a effective fix i think i am calling it quits. Flora/tree mods, 2k textures etc have half the effect on performance.

I mean I get it enb improves rendering in a way no other current method can... but on skyrim this is seeming like a pain in the ♥♥♥. I at least want my sun to render correctly.

EDIT: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/18611

Figment enb is a good performance ENB. Means I can run veydosebrom + enhanced vanilla trees (bigger preset) with enb yet retain 60 fps where previously was at around 45 - 50 lows no matter the enb preset

Depends what you're after,

I wanted more colour, darker nights and interiors I've gone with Skyrimse re-engaged ENB performance option with COT using a lot of high res textures and the biggest issue I had was grass, short grass SE (mixed) killed my FPS, until I found Grass FPS booster mod. I was shocked that one little mod could kill fps like that on my rig..

Processor: Intel Core i9-9900K @5GHz
RAM: 16GB G-Skill DDR4 3000MHz
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce (Asus Turbo) RTX2080Ti 11GB vram
Motherboard: Asus ROG MAXIMUS XI CODE Z390
Storage: 500GB M.2 2280 Black NVMe PCIe SSD
2TB SATA 6.0Gb/s 64MB HDD
Monitor: Acer KG281k @3840x2610 60Hz
OS: Windows 10 home
I have a ♥♥♥♥ ton of textures and they dont have any effect on fps. Only grass/tree mods and city mods + enb. I just wish fps wasnt such a struggle. Feel like I should have saved for your specs. Frustratingly I did HAVE a 60 fps setup a day ago but forgot what it was after switching through different weather and enb's.

how can you get so little fps with those specs? i have an gtx 1070 and r5 3600 and i got almost stable 60 fps in many places with enb and 180 mods. there is nothing wrong with your specs, unless you have slow ram or little of it
You think I have a problem? Because something like Skyrim SE isnt really measurable without specifics.

My rust performance matches what it seems it should be based of vid of what is supposed to be same gpu https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5VwR_ZwGjA

I get roughly same. (Settings i use decrease fps by like 30 or more in rust. ). Idk i could have some mod or weirdly specific issue although with no enb I get like 100+ fps but with (depending on enb preset and whats enabled 60 as a min.)

Also I have good ram 16g. Ram is running at like 3000 or something.

I am benchmarking skyrim with specifically MOST INTENSIVE places. Which are for me out side helgen, in white run (jks cities) in windhelms docks and solitude's docks.

I mean if you got something to boost performance at no cost throw it at me however I think I did what I could. Engine fixes, USEEP, SKSE, Bethini. About only thing i havent done is clean files and run nif optimizer and lod gen.
do you use jks skyrim performance version? if not then you might want to switch it out with dawn or skyrim or another city mod, it is known to be fps intensive. what enb did you use? i used skyrim re engaged enb and had no problems with it. if you use skyrim flora overhaul then that mod will reduce your fps a fair bit, use the trees only version and a seperate grass mod like verdant instead. have you installed skyrim optimized textures https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/21166, project optimization https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/14084 and sse fixes.

Tried most enbs. Always go under 60 fps outside helgen and city harbors. I was using verdant but switched to more fps friendly grass mod and already use non tree flora overhaul.

Also dont know if performance optimized textures for SSE can help given i have high res textures I disabled and STILL had same fps like almost no fps impact at all.

have you followed a modding guide? you should do that for core mods, fixes and optimization

I am 100% sure You are doing something wrong or you're using demanding ENBs.

1. Try to turn of or lower settings of some effects(mainly Depth of Field).
2. Make sure to read about the ENB on ENB page and how to set it up correctly.
3. Disable antivirus and "crapware" on your computer, especially programs that can alter the settings of the game(Nvidia GeForce Experience for example).
4. Goolge decent modding guide with examples of ENBs(usually author also mentions performance impact), try them, see if there is difference.

side note: On oldrim I can run Snapdragon ENB, without DoF on steady 60fps without any problems and with some 4k textures and I was using Aeon ENB with on 40-50fps. Those are two really demanding ENBs, writting it just so You will know that I am not talking out of my a..

Honestly I am starting to think this is a issue of people assuming performance of hardware they have never touched.

-Stopped using anti virus and ge force experience years ago
-You cant setup a enb incorrectly (and even if you do it wont reduce performance by 30 fps or more)
-I havent lowered enb settings i disabled them
-Havent seen a mod guide that actually solves my issues.

do a clean install of skyrim se and start over with the enb. the mods will stay in your mod manager

Didnt really change anything. Tree + grass mod + enb just seems to be too much at helgen for 60 fps.

Well, you can live without it - especially if you use the mod IMAGINATOR.
But... when YOU WILL use an ENB preset... well, you won't like to play without one!

Any ENB preset shoots to stratosphere your visuals, your game will look 1000% much better than without it.

The MAJOR NOT-USE a ENB is the performance.
Even with a VERY GOOD performance ENB, you'll loose A LOT fps.
