Sound effects missing!
I know there are a alot of post like this but no official fix.
Bethesda, this is not acceptable! :steamsad:
I had this problem in both SE and the original edition and i've tried 2 different sound system aswell as a headset and there is still missing sounds. There is no combat sound, no jump sound and no discovored new location sounds and it seems like there is no music either.
And i know there is a fix to move Skyrim into the disk where my OS is but that one is only ment for my OS and important softwares and i like to keep it that way. This bug is annoying and ruins my whole gameplay and immersion.
I've tried to play Skyrim SE and the original with and without mods and still this is happening.
How can it be that there is no permanent fix for this?
I even tried to run DXSETUP to see if it worked but to no avail.
And since there are alot of post with the same issue i hope that we will someday see some fix for this since the SE version runs so much better.

Well, the fact you've split your os from the rest of your computer can be a problem. The game probably wants a windows file it can't find.

That is not the case since alot of people play this way. Keep their games on a separate HDD or SSD and i've played this way before on my old computer and there were no sound issue there. So this is a bug and since there is alot of post with the same issue.
And this is the only game i've experienced this issue and i truly hoped that they would have fixed it in the SE version since i had the same issue in the original version.

first you need to tell what sound it is you even have is it onboard soundcard or plugin card

but besure you actual have DL the drivers and chipset and other updates first from Brand pc support place or custom build then goto Mortherboard Brand support place.

if plug in cards then go that Brand support place. and we are guess on WIN10 then be sure you have newest win10 drivers. ( creative sound card has win10 require dl support page )

and then you have all this update feel free to Contact Bethesda, then you might have a bug.

I use Realtek sound card but since both my sound system and the headset have the same issue. Even tried to reinstall the audiodriver but with no luck. And my PC was formated 2 weeks ago so everything is up to date. Just so wierd that Skyrim is the only game that have this issue.

please use iobit driver booster FREE version, it can actual get newer drivers from realtek support page then our mortherboard support page even care about.

or goto realtek own page , but most dont like the way they call there model reference nr and ID the right type can be diffcult to understand.

I've tried with the Iobit driver booster. Had some old driver that needed to be fixed but the issue still persist in both my soundsystems and with the headset. I'ts driving me crazy since the only sound that seems to work is ambience sound and sometimes i hear sound when hitting something.

Contact Bethesda with dxdiag and ms32info.

but you sure this is not a vsync issue. ( graphic issue """ i hear sound when hitting something.""" ) most games dont like things over 60hz and OC can push this edge even further. many gamers know this.

I have a 60 Hz monitor and i've tried to mess around with vsync on and off so i might contact Bethesda. I've spent over 6 hours to get my mods to work and i just wanted to play some Skyrim again but nope, can't do that with missing sounds. Ruins my immersion

well not sure how much faulty finding on this device, but have you tried with diffrent set or satelit speakers just to be sure. its not funny then its later maybe ones own fault that gear is not working, dont forget onboard device could be malfuctions also. and then driver wont help. but then other games wont have sounds so and, hmmm have you check that Realtek sound setting in the system all is okay and all is working in other games. i only mention this because we can only see skyrim and skyrim SE talk only.

and then its simple contact Betheda Support there is nothing we can do.

Well i will just stay up all night trying to find out what can cause this issue. It really grinds my gear but i'm not giving up that easy!

Any news? I'm pretty desperate...

Well i gave up a long time ago trying to fix the sound issue. Even tried mods to replace combat and other sounds but but it did not work. So the best fix so far is to have the Skyrim install folder in the same disk you have your windows on.

Here is what I found, it worked for me:

1. First download and install Link Shell Extension which can be found here: http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/linkshellextension.html.
2. Navigate to your Skyrim/Data folder and look for a file named Skyrim - Sounds.bsa. Copy this file and paste it somewhere on your main drive.
3. Delete Skyrim - Sounds.bsa from the Data folder.
4. Go back to where you copied Skyrim - Sounds.bsa on your main drive. Right click on it and you should see an option that says "Pink Link Source". Click that.
5. Go back to your Skyrim/Data folder. Right click anywhere and choose "Drop As" and then "Symbolic Link". You will see your sounds file with a shortcut symbol. You know it works when you do.
