[SOLVED] Skyrim SE crashes randomly
Hi, I've been (trying to) playing Skyrim SE since 1.1.2018 and I've encountered weird problems w/ fullscreen and borderless modes:

- in fullscreen mode at some point my game just freezes, my cursor disappears completely and Alt+Tab won't raise other windows up. The only way shutting game down is by logging off from my PC account / rebooting using only keyboard since cursor isn't working. When logging off I see that Steam is blocking me from signing off.

- in boarderless mode when game crashes cursor sometimes disappears but rarely (Win-key opens menu and shows my cursor, but if id start clicking all around cursor will disappear) and I can close game.

After couple of these incidents I decided to check how is my rig working while game is running. MSI Afterburner showed that GPU usage was from 40% to max 90% when game was running. Temp was 60-83 degree.
CPU usage: each core max 40-50%. Temps on CPU were 40-50 degree.
Due to crash, MSIA couldnt show GPU usage when game crashed so I had check manually after and it showed that when game crashed, GPU usage hit 100%.

These crashings happened with and without mods + these crashes didn't pop any messages why game crashed so I decided to check event log for further info and I found out this:

"Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

- <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">
- <System>
<Provider Name="Display" />
<EventID Qualifiers="0">4101</EventID>
<Level>3</Level>
<Task>0</Task>
<Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords>
<TimeCreated SystemTime="2018-01-06T21:33:15.290457100Z" />

<Computer>DESKTOP-EG4K3MM</Computer>
<Security />
</System>
- <EventData>
<Data>nvlddmkm</Data>
<Data />
</EventData>
</Event>

I literally don't know what to do, I've tried googling this without any success.

My rig (prebuilt PC, im too dumb and inexperienced to build my own rig):

G11CD-K

I5-7400
8GB DDR4
NVidia GTX 1060 6GB
1 TB HDD
126 GB SDD

EDIT: This problem was solved by sending my rig for technical diagnostics, which showed that I have faulty GPU. Replacing it fixed my problem completely

We need the specs. Not just random numbers. You know how to get your specs, right?

if this is a MSI Mortherboard have you use that MSI auto update tool to fix all current Brand issue they know about ?

then redownload Newest Nvidia driver with advance install option to make a clean installation then checkbox is there.

and have you OC that pc ? watchout for that. my nerfews MSI pc has so easy one click mistake in main menu and cpu core one will be OC boosted. ( default settings cant be used in he's pc quite odd, and tempature and other settings have to be setup by user, system dont have a default settings. Monitoring of temparature and such. )

edit content added
G11CD-K , if Asus board then goto that place and get those drivers and bios update and not MSI.

I've never touched OC options on my PC, so that falls away.
On Asus site (+ in Asus updater) there is no new updates.
I've reinstalled my graphics drivers and will see now how it will work.

Asking for specs (which is required to help)... is trolling?

In a world where the less fortunate tell each other that they're worth something ... Sure. Like people pretend that kids with progeria are beautiful or cute when I'n reality they're the most scary looking tranquilest puppet you've ever seen.

just so you know, Asus is Famous for Desktop pc have worst autoupdate app, user has to do it themself. and if its laptop alot better service. ( but either way its still pc owner responsibility to know what hardware and what driver is need to DL from them specially then they sell diffrent boards with multi driver on it on same board )

yeah i understand you did not do this.
touched OC options on my PC, but someone had set it up first time. and even on lowest OC 3%-5% it can still give issue if such mistake has been made. we are humans even store can make mistake where we buy them from.

but i dont think its that on a ASUS board.

but either way same goes with RAM many games dont like OC and can lead to crashes in diffrent games, not the first time i have fix pc turn down Turbo ram to standard or by SPD or whatever ram board support and then game/pc become stable again.

and this could also be a mod issue and have nothing to do with pc. random crash
((( loot load order and mods that dont work together )))

even validate game cache if content is corrupted on harddisk.

A common issue that I think I've caught on to is a ram issue. You have great vram, but only 8 gigs of system physical ram.

The quick fix (and there are people who hate me for this) is to manually set your virtual ram to a higher amount. If this stops your CTDs, then you know it's a ram issue.

If you can afford it, another 8gb stick of ram would be the better solution. Just make sure to test if virtual ram does the trick before you go spending money. No point buying the ram stick if it turns out ram isn't the issue.

Why would you only buy one stick of RAM? That makes no sense.

Skyrim constantly crashes for me because of Steam.. not because of mods or anything else... time for Skyrim to be removed from Steam completely... I'm about to remove my Steam account because Steam constantly crashes any/all of my games I have on Steam. I'm also on a new gaming computer and have very good internet, so it's not my system... it's 10000% all Steam being a crappy program.
